Wesley's POV

"Is she sleeping?" Molly whispered.

I looked down at Janis, curled up against me. Her head resting on my chest.

"Yes," I whispered.

"I'm going to bed," Molly said.

I looked at her. "I could..."

"Don't disturb Aunt Nis. She looks comfy," Molly whispered.

"Aunt Nis would kick my ass if I let you go to bed by yourself without tucking you in," I whispered.

Molly giggled. "Don't tell her. Besides, I have Cooper."

"Molly," I started.

Molly sat up, turned towards me, and kissed my cheek. "Good night, Sley!"

She got off the couch, turned the TV and lights off, and disappeared. Cooper followed her out of the room.

The little sneak was trying to keep Janis and me together. She's more like Joslyn than I thought.

I grinned at the idea.

I stretched out, kicking my feet up on the coffee table. Janis snuggled closer to me, her hand resting on my chest. I missed this.

There was a weight on me, but it wasn't uncomfortable. I actually liked the feel of it and wanted to get closer. My eyes opened slowly.

Janis lay sprawled out, her head on my chest, her hips almost on mine, and our legs were tangled together.

I gently ran my fingers through her hair. It was so soft and shiny. Janis moaned in her sleep and snuggled closer.

I sighed.

This is precisely what I wanted, and it felt heavenly. I wanted to hold Janis for so long. I ached to have her in my arms, and here she is.

It didn't matter that she'd be embarrassed and appalled when she woke up. It didn't matter that it took a four-year-old to make it happen.

This was the life I wanted.

I wanted to wake up with her every morning.

I wanted to fall asleep at night with Janis in my arms and spend the rest of my life with this woman.

I love her.

Janis shifted and stretched.

Her brown eyes opened, and she looked up at me.

"Hi," She mumbled.

"Good morning," I said.

She stretched her hand by my head, and her fingers touched my hair. I had this overwhelming sensation, a need, to kiss her pretty red lips.

Janis sat up with a jolt.

I tried not to groan in protest.

"Wes, I'm..."

I sat up and looked into her deep brown eyes. I was going to tell her how I felt. What I wanted, that I wanted her.

"Janis, I..."

My phone vibrated in my pocket. It couldn't have happened at a worse time. I reached into my pocket and pulled my phone out.

It was my brother.

"Hello?"

"Wes? It's Jer," He started.

"Hey, Jer," I said.

Janis got up off the couch.

"Wes, I'm sorry to call so early. It's mom. She took a turn for the worse. The doctors say she won't make it much longer," my brother said.
