Jamey's POV

"Wes, Janis wants you," I yelled out the patio door.

I stepped back into the kitchen and took a deep breath.

Stephanie entered the kitchen and stopped at the other end of the counter.

"Are you okay?" she asked.

"That was a lot," I admitted.

Stephanie nodded.

Wesley stepped inside.

"Excuse me," he said.

"Wes?" Stephanie started.

"Yes?"

Stephanie took a deep breath.

"Janis bought the pregnancy test for me. I thought I was pregnant, and I was paranoid because..."

My mouth fell open.

I didn't even know Janis was pregnant, and now this?

She sighed.

"It doesn't matter why I was paranoid. I asked Janis to buy the test for me, and she agreed. I also asked her not to tell anyone. I thought you should know."

Wesley looked at me.

"Thanks, Steph, I appreciate it. Another piece to the puzzle that fits," Wesley said. "Excuse me, I'm going to check on Janis."

Stephanie and I stood there in silence.

"Do you want to get out of here?" I asked.

Stephanie and I went outside and walked in silence down the street.

"How have you been?" I asked.

I hadn't seen Stephanie since she barged out of Uncle Zack and Aunt Sabrina's house when she found out I had visited Christopher.

"Okay, how have you been?" She asked.

I shrugged.

"I'm pretty miserable," I admitted. "I can't sleep. All I do is think of you."

Stephanie nodded.

I stopped her and took her hand in mine. She let me.

"Look, Steph, I'm sorry I didn't tell you about visiting Christopher. The first time I went, it was an impulse decision, but I still should have told you."

"Why didn't you?"

"I thought you would try to convince me not to go," I admitted.

"I might have, but he is your cousin, Jamey. I know how important family is to you," Stephanie said.

I nodded.

"I know how much Christopher scared you. How much you worried about me while I was in the hospital. I didn't want you to worry about a visit with him."

"I would have worried, anyways."

Holding her hand, we started walking again.

"You thought you were pregnant?" I asked.

Stephanie nodded.

"It was a false alarm. I got my period the next day," she sighed.

"I probably should have told you..."

"Probably?" I asked.

Stephanie smiled.

"I should have told you, but I wanted to make sure, and then when I got my period, it didn't seem to matter anymore."
