Joslyn's POV

I rushed to the house.

Uncle Tristan made me so mad.

How dare he say that? How dare he say that because he was, right?

My breath caught in my throat, and tears filled my eyes.

"Joslyn, are you okay?" Grandma asked.

"Uncle Tristan is an asshole," I declared.

"Oh, honey..." Grandma started.

"I could have told you that," Aunt Sabrina said.

Grandma and I stared at her.

"What? He is an asshole," Sabrina repeated.

Grandma and I started laughing.

"What has that man done now?" Grandma asked.

I opened my mouth to tell them and shut it quickly.

Just because Uncle Tristan pissed me off doesn't mean I want my grandma and aunt to know why.

"He's just being Tristan," Rydel said from behind me.

"Rydel, would you please run to the corner bakery and pick up the cake? I asked Patrick to do it earlier; he just told me he didn't get it. I swear these kids are going to be the death of me," Aunt Sabrina said.

"Sure," Aunt Rydel said. "Wanna come with me, Jos?"

"Sure," I said.

"We'll be right back," Aunt Rydel called over her shoulder as we left the house.

"I know she is your aunt, and I've known Sabrina for a long time, and I do love her, but sometimes she gets to me," Aunt Rydel mumbled.

I laughed.

"You sound like mom. She and Dad always used to joke about her having a procedure done, and once when I asked what was wrong, Dad said she really needed to have the stick removed from her ass."

Rydel laughed. "That sounds about right."

We drove down the street, getting stopped at the first traffic light.

"What's been going on with you?" I asked.

Aunt Rydel shrugged.

"Why haven't you been coming to Jam Night?" I asked.

She shrugged again.

"You are awfully quiet," I pointed out.

"I may be seeing someone," she said softly.

"What?" I exclaimed.

Aunt Rydel laughed.

"Who? How'd you meet? Why don't you bring him with you?" I asked.

"It's someone I've known for a while, and if I bring him, my brothers will be all over us like flies on shit. I'm not ready for that yet," she explained.

"Makes sense, have some fun first. You don't want to scare him off by introducing him to Dad, Rocky, Ross, and Ryland," I said.

"We are having fun. It'll take a little more than my brothers to scare him off," Rydel commented.

"Definitely don't bring him around when the Stewarts are there," I said.

"I think the Stewarts would be okay," she said.

"Tristan? Please! My mom told me he once asked Ross if he stood up when he pissed," I said.

Rydel laughed.
