Jamey's POV
"Was that your sister?" Stephanie asked.
I set the phone down and cuddled up behind her. I snaked my arm around her waist and rested my chin on her shoulder, my lips right by her ear and neck.
"Yes, that was Janis."
Janis has been driving me insane since that night she met Wesley.
The girl hasn't shown up for Jam Night, but she calls me daily after interrogating me about Wesley.
Was he there? Did you talk to him? What about? Did he ask about me? Did he play? What did he play? Who did he hang around with all night? Did he show interest in any other females there? What was he wearing?
The first time, I was intrigued.
Rarely does Janis shows interest in a male.
As a matter of fact, I can't ever remember Janis having a boyfriend.
She liked this guy in ninth grade, Luke, who was in the eleventh grade.
Luke was a player and started talking to Janis.
He took her out once after months of her obsessing over him.
Mom worried because it was Janis' first date, and the guy drove.
Janis returned from the date upset and told their mom it didn't go as planned.
Later, she told me that all Luke wanted to do was have sex.
Things got a little heated, and Janis gave him a black eye.
Monday at school, Luke said he got hit in the face with a football.
I knew he didn't want to admit that a girl gave him a black eye.
That was the end of Janis' dating experience.
Janis was hurt and upset about Luke but turned to school and threw herself into her music.
At the end of that year, she came up with the idea for our band, and we started playing.
"Sounds like she really likes this guy," Stephanie said.
"She does," I said. "And I think Wesley may like her too."
"Aw! That's so sweet! I hope it works out. I like Janis," Stephanie said.
"You don't even know her," I said with a chuckle.
"No, I don't, but she is your sister, and you have been telling me about her and this guy since they met. So I'm invested in how it ends, and I am rooting for your sister," Stephanie said.
I smiled against her neck.
It's incredible that Steph likes Janis and wants her to be happy.
The two would get along incredibly when they meet if they ever meet.
"I don't know, I can't see it working out, he is a musician, and Janis has strong feelings about musicians," I said. "Although she's having lunch with Dad today."
"What?" Stephanie exclaimed, rolling over and looking at me.
"She said she called him and asked him to meet her for lunch," I said.
"Jamey, that's huge," Stephanie replied.
"I know," I said. "It's about time too. I never understood why Janis was so mad at Dad. She says he killed Mom, but I know that's not true. Dad lost it when Mom died. I don't think he has or will ever fully recover from that," I said.
