Janis' POV
The paramedics insisted on taking us to the hospital after they examined us at the scene.
Wesley and I separated when we arrived while they ran test after test on me. They took CAT scans, MRIs, X-rays, and ran blood work.
Turns out I wasn't as okay as I thought. I hit my head hard and had a dozy bump to show for it.
They put three stitches on my forehead. I was covered in cuts and would probably bruise.
I guess the lady at the accident wasn't giving me a headache. It was the fact that I banged it on the window and the dashboard.
They wanted to keep me for observation.
I lay in a dark room because the light made my head hurt.
The longer I was at the hospital, the more I ached.
Once again, the annoying lady was right. Too bad I'd never get the chance to tell her that.
"Ms. Lynch?" I tried not to cringe as I looked at the nurse.
"Yes?"
"You have a visitor," the nurse said.
She stepped aside, and Wesley steeped in.
"Hey," he said, coming over to the bed and taking my hand. He lifted it to his lips and kissed it.
I would have melted at the gesture if it didn't hurt so badly.
"Hi. Are you okay?" I asked. "Are you hurt?"
He nodded. " I'm starting to get stiff and sore. A hot shower will help. Nothing is broken."
"You get to go home?"
"We get to go home," he corrected me.
"How?"
"I sweet-talked the nurse," Wesley replied.
I dropped my head sideways, trying to ignore the pain shooting across my head.
"A huge accident just came in, and they need the beds. Nothing is broken, and there's no internal bleeding, so they will send us home."
"Good," I said.
"You need to be woken up every two hours for the next 12 hours."
"Okay," I said.
"Can you call someone to come pick us up?" Wesley asked. "My car is totaled."
"I don't have my phone. It must be in your car."
"Do you know anyone's number?"
I shook my head. Boy, was that a mistake.
"No one's, really?"
"No, I've always kept them in my phone," I said.
"What about Riker's?" He asked cautiously.
"No, he always gets new numbers," I explained.
"Thank god! I don't want to deal with him tonight," Wesley said.
"It was an accident, Wes."
"Riker will blame me," Wesley said.
"Do you have your phone?" I asked.
Wesley nodded.
"Call Rocky," I said.
Wesley pulled out his phone and clicked on Rocky's name. "Do you want to talk to him?"
I stared at him. "It's Rocky!"
"He's your uncle," Wesley argued.
"Jesus, you're a chicken!" I said.
