Janis' POV

"Janis? There's been a... thing," Riker sighed. "Your sister went out for diapers and formula two days ago and still hasn't returned."

"What?" I exclaimed into my phone.

"Honey, I just used the rest of my formula here. I'm down to two diapers that I found in the diaper bag. Can you run to the store for me and pick some up?"

"Why don't you take Molly to the store?" I asked.

"I would, but I don't have a car or seat," Riker said.

"Where's your car?" I asked.

"Joslyn has it," Riker explained.

"Joslyn left you with Molly two days ago, and she still hasn't come home?"

"No, I don't know where she is," He said.

"Yeah, I'll come over, but I don't know what Molly uses, so why don't you go to the store, and I'll stay with Molly," I said.

"All right, thanks, Janis."

An hour later, I walked around the house holding Molly.

She was crying.

Usually, she calmed down for me, but I was pretty sure she was hungry.

I couldn't believe Joslyn had taken off.

I hoped she wasn't dead somewhere.

Molly quieted down for a few seconds.

I sighed.

Finally, I could hear myself think.

Maybe she would fall asleep.

I glanced down at the baby in my arms; her eyes were closed.

Poor baby, she's exhausted and starving.

My blood boiled.

How irresponsible could my sister get?

I sat down in the rocker.

Molly fussed but stopped once I started rocking.

I was relieved she fell asleep and confident she'd stay asleep until Riker returned.

I smiled at my niece.

She was so beautiful, with a head full of soft brown hair.

Her eyes looked blue, and I thought they would stay blue.

I saw a mixture of all of us in her, but I also saw my mom.

Uncle Tristan bought over a picture of Mom when Molly was born; it was like they were twins.

It amazed me how DNA worked through the years, tying us together.

The doorbell rang.

Molly's eyes popped open, and her mouth formed a large O before she let out an ear-piercing wail.

"Dammit!" I swore, getting up.

Molly started crying.

Cooper ran around the house like his ass was on fire, and the goddamn doorbell rang again.

"I'm coming!" I yelled, causing Molly to scream louder.

I pulled the door open.

Wesley stood on the step before me in tight blue jeans that hugged his hips and legs and a navy tee shirt.

I couldn't believe my eyes.

Wesley looked better than I remembered.

"Janis?" He asked, shocked.
