Janis POV

The radio played softly in the background in my car as I drove around.

It was Friday night, and I was working for Uber.

Usually, Fridays were busy.

I liked to pick people up and take them to the airport.

It was an easy ride, which took longer, and I made decent money in a few hours.

What is Wesley doing tonight?

No, I am not thinking about him tonight. I am working.

I've decided to give up on Wesley.

I don't see anything happening, even though we kissed twice.

The first time was my doing. I couldn't help myself. The second time was Wesley returning the favor.

I must have surprised him when I kissed him that first night, and he wanted to pay me back with the surprise factor. And boy, did he surprise me.

He made my toes curl with delight.

I got caught up in the moment, and that's what Wesley wanted.

The moment has passed.

I am on full alert now, and that's not what I want.

I want to graduate college, get a good job teaching, and concentrate on my career.

Wesley was a distraction.

I didn't need any distractions, even if they were super hot and a great kisser.

What else was he great at?

A lot, I bet.

I wonder...

My phone beeped.

I looked at the gadget mounted on the dashboard.

I had a rider.

They were going to the airport.

Good.

That's exactly what I wanted.

I flipped on my Uber light and headed to the address on the screen.

Fifteen minutes later, I pulled in front of a building and waited for my rider.

Five minutes later, the passenger door opened.

Shocked, I looked up as a lean body sat beside me.

"Hi, usually passengers ride in the back," I said with a smile.

"I know, but I figured since you knew me, it would be okay," Wesley said, grinning back at me.

"Wh... what are you doing?" I asked, shocked, pulling on my blue tee shirt to make it look neat.

"Getting a ride," Wesley replied lightly.

"To the airport?" I asked.

"Well, no. But I needed to get you here to pick me up," Wesley explained.

"What?" I asked, confused.

Wesley sighed.

"You said the other night you were working tonight. I wanted to see you, so I booked a ride. It wasn't you, so I canceled and booked another ride. That one wasn't you, so I booked another one, and voila! Here you are!"

"So you don't need a ride?" I asked.

"No, I just want to hang out with you," he said, smiling.

My stomach fluttered as my heart raced.
