Jamey's POV
My eyes popped open, and I had to focus. Where was I?
I looked around at the white room. Monitors hung on the wall to my left. They tracked my heartbeat, blood pressure, oxygen levels, and other vitals.
They are tracking my vitals, I thought.
I turned my head to the other side.
Grandma Lynch slumped in a chair, her head tilted at an uncomfortable angle.
I was in the hospital.
I tried to sit up and found I couldn't move.
"Grandma?"
Her eyes fluttered open and then widened with surprise.
"Jamey! You're awake!" She smiled warmly at me, tears flooding her eyes. "Thank goodness!"
"Wherr... What happened?" I asked.
Grandma reached for a cup of water and stood to put it against my lips.
"You were in a car accident," she explained.
"I was?"
She nodded. "You don't remember. The doctor said you might not."
"Am I okay?" I asked.
"You've been in a coma for almost two weeks," she said.
"Where is everyone? Dad? Janis? Joslyn?" I looked around. "They weren't in the car with me?"
"No, honey. You were by yourself. Your father is at home with Janis. She was also in an accident. Joslyn... well, she's..."
"She's in jail," I said.
"No, she's in rehab," Grandma corrected me.
I sighed with relief.
"I need to get the doctor and have him examine you. I'll call your father and then catch you up on everything," she smiled at me. "I'm so happy you are awake."
An hour later, Grandma sat by my bed telling me about Joslyn's case, my accident, Janis' accident, and everything else.
"Is Janis okay?"
"She had a severe concussion, but it's getting better," Grandma said.
I nodded.
I couldn't believe I lost two weeks! So much had happened. No one could tell me much about my accident, and I couldn't remember anything. I couldn't even remember where I was going when it happened.
"Jamey?"
I looked up and saw Dad. He came over and hugged me.
"Thank god!" he said.
"I'm sorry I worried you.."
"Don't be silly! I'm glad you are awake," he said.
"Hey, kid," Uncle Zack said, coming into the room with Aunt Sabrina, Mary and Mary's friend.
They hugged me, spreading out.
I looked up at Mary's friend.
"You are the prettiest girl I have ever seen," I exclaimed.
The girl blushed.
"Woah!" Mary exclaimed.
I studied the girl. Stephanie, her name popped into my head, and then all these memories flooded.
"Maybe we should go and let him rest," Aunt Sabrina suggested.
Riker nodded. "I have to get back to your sister. I'm sure she will want to come and see you."
