You walked outside on the Shield grounds you saw groups of people walking or jogging, and you huffed slightly to yourself as you were going fairly slowly. Cloud was quick to run towards the grass to relieve himself. You wondered if you should have him on a leash, since people were definitely not used to seeing a wolf walking around as free as a bird. You gave a small smile to a group passing by, and reached into your purse to get Cloud's ball. He stood at attention in front of you, you threw the ball as hard as you could and it flew into the air. Cloud pranced for a moment before making a mad dash after the ball. You saw a few people stop to watch as he leapt into the air and gracefully caught the ball before prancing around for a moment and bringing it back to you.
"Nice dog," a woman called to you.
"He's a wolf," you shrugged. "His name is Cloud" you offered quickly.
"You're that new Avenger, aren't you?" she seemed to want to continue the conversation.
"Yes, I'm Y/N" you took the ball from Cloud and threw it again. He quickly raced after it.
"Deborah" she reached out to shake your hand. "What are the Avengers doing here?" She seemed curious.
"Hydra came up with a new serum to make werewolves, we are working on a counter serum" you offered easily. "Fury wanted the Science and Research division to work here on site" you gave a shrug as you saw Cloud catch the ball again and he pranced around a little bit, holding his head up proudly. You couldn't help but giggle and watched him before he started making his way back to you.
"Seriously?!" she asked quickly in surprise, and you gave a shrug.
"Don't put anything past them" you mumbled, a little embarrassed as you saw more Shield agents making their way over towards you and Cloud.
"I guess not" she took a few brave steps forward, and you bit your bottom lip wondering if she was talking to you because you were an Avenger, or because you seemed interesting. You didn't want to assume anything. "Can I pet him?" she gestured to Cloud who came back with the ball and sat at your feet, waiting expectantly.
"That's his call" you looked at Cloud. "Can she pet you?" you asked him out loud.
"As long as she is gentle" Cloud gave you the ball and he walked over towards Deborah, continuing to hold his head up proudly before he stopped in front of her and sat down and waited expectantly. She reached out a hand timidly and let him smell her before she started to pet him softly.
"He's so soft," she mused out loud.
"He likes to be brushed" you gave a proud smile, watching the pair of them like a hawk. Cloud allowed her to pet him for a few minutes while she cooed to him at how pretty he was, before he stood up and came back to you and waited for you to throw the ball again. You threw it as far as you could, and he took off like lightning. You saw a storm was rolling in on the horizon and heard thunder shake in the skies.
"Are you going to be here at headquarters for long?" Deborah took a few more steps towards you and watched Cloud as he chased the ball.
"As long as it takes. Fury set up a permanent residence for the three of us" you spared her a glance. You took in her long brown hair, and green eyes. Her body was lean, and it looked like she was an avid gymnast, and she was wearing one of the Shield mandated workout clothes. She was taller than you, and she had a kind smile.
"Lucky for us" she smirked, crossing her arms. "It's not every day you see a real wolf on the grounds" she giggled.
"I have nine of them" you just casually dropped that fact and her jaw dropped. "Five of them are pups, and can't leave the compound yet. Not really. My three adults are with them and Bucky back home"
"So it's true you and Bucky are an item" she gave you an appraising eye.
"He's my fiancee" you smiled proudly and Cloud came back to you. "He's such a wonderful man"
"How long have you been with the Avengers?" she quickly asked, looking you up and down.
"Over a year now" you sighed. "It's been wonderful to be apart of the team"
"You seem familiar" she finally led up the question you had a feeling was coming.
"I used to work here, in the lab" you confirmed with a nod of your head. "Cloud worked with me back then too"
"I must have started after you left. I just started here a year ago" she seemed to relax a little bit.
"Y/N" Cloud got your attention. You looked at him, closing your mouth from responding out loud.
"What is it, Cloud?" you asked with your mind.
"I don't like the smell of her" he handed you the ball.
"Then I think it's time we go back inside" you nodded to him, not thinking that Deborah was picking up on your bodily reactions as well. She raised an eyebrow at the pair of you as you slipped the ball back into your purse. "I need to head in, Tony and Bruce are expecting us for breakfast" you quickly explained. "It was lovely to meet you" you gave a small smile.
"Nice to meet you" Deborah waved at you as you quickly retreated back towards the building. You noticed a few more people were standing and watching as the pair of you made your way indoors. You hadn't thought you had been gone that long. Certainly not long enough to mandate so many stares. You had brought out Cloud plenty of times last week, and didn't seem to get this much attention. Then again, you didn't play ball with him either. You just bought the ball yesterday. You made your way to the bedroom and dropped off the ball, grabbing your fully charged phone and putting it into your purse. You grabbed your prenatal pills and took one with a bottle of water from the fridge, the cool liquid felt good on your throat. You heard a knock at the door, and it suddenly opened and both Tony and Bruce were standing there with worried expressions on their faces.
"Good morning" you put your bottle of water into your purse.
"How are you feeling, Sunshine?" Bruce asked quickly.
"A little nauseous, but Cloud got me out of the bedroom already. People are curious about Cloud" you started walking towards them.
"Of course they are curious, you are the newest Avenger" Tony shrugged.
"But I worked here a year and a half ago, with Cloud" you pointed out as the four of you walked out of the bedroom.
"Things have changed," Bruce reminded you quickly.
"Don't I know it" you sighed, putting a hand on your stomach unconsciously and followed Tony back towards the cafeteria.
