Lovers to Parents (Bucky x reader)

Annettes hesitation

The entire team had lined up in the dining room waiting expectantly for you to bring your family in. Aunt Melanie and Mama gave each member a hug, catching Loki and Thor off guard the most. Nat had chuckled in response. Joseph seemed the most excited saying their names before even meeting them officially. Austin tried to get him to settle down, but there was no stopping him. He even knew Bruce as the Hulk and a world famous Doctor and had said as much, making Bruce blush. He barely paused long enough to greet all the wolf pups who were confused as it was that so many people were greeting them the way that you would with them.
"Alright, let's eat" Tony clapped his hands together, clearly impressed with the amount of facts that Joseph was rambling off about the team. Mama took the seat beside you, opposite of Bucky.
"This looks so good," Aunt Melanie cooed.
"Bucky and I spent most of the day in the kitchen" you smiled proudly, and Bucky leaned over to give you a kiss on the cheek.
"It was fun, you did most of the work" Bucky chuckled.
"Did you make pies?" Peter asked hopefully.
"Yes, apple and peach" you nodded and both Peter and Pietro high fived one another. "We also made some cookies," you added with a sly smile.
"Excellent, it's been years since I had your homemade cookies" Austin grinned.
"I'm looking forward to them too" Annette finally gave a smile.
"Let's get this passed around, this is going to get cold" Clint brought everyone back to the matter at hand.
"Finally" Uncle Brad boomed as Clint passed him one of the overflowing platters of ribs.
"So like, what do the wolves eat?" Austin asked since he could see them eating, but wasn't sure.
"Two steaks for each adult, three for Melody since she's expecting, and one steak per pup. They get fed three times a day, and lots of treats" you answered easily.
"Who feeds them?" Annette asked in surprise.
"We all do, whoever gets to the kitchen first. Sam normally gets to it first since he brings out meals for the shadow wolf pack" Wanda answered this time.
"Your mama said there was a cat?" Annette asked as she started filling her plate.
"That would be my Alpine," Bucky grinned proudly. "He's in our suite right now, he's still a little shy," he added.
"Aurora will be nice" she promised quickly. "We all had to promise to be nice," she added under her breath.
"You still are against your cousin being on the team and having five companions" Loki observed. "I assure you, she's invaluable to the team. In your absence she's gotten stronger, and she does indeed have abilities like your father described. No, she's not working in the field in her condition, although she's slipped in against our better judgment. Have care with your thoughts child, I'm not the only one that can read them," Loki gave a soft warning.
"What?" Annette looked to be in shock.
"Wanda can too" Joseph rolled his eyes at her.
"Brother, have care with your words" Thor cleared his throat.
"He was only speaking the truth, I warned you young lady. Your cousin is special and there ain't anything wrong with having a wild animal as a companion. Soren is, and he fits into the family just right" Uncle Brad gave some sass.
"Don't think I didn't catch that. She was in the field?" Mama asked, giving you a stern look.
"The baby wasn't hurt mama" you told her quickly.
"Were you hurt?" she asked quickly.
"Couple scratches" you lied.
"We talked about it, she isn't doing it again. A small team of us had been taken captive, and both Y/N and Bruce forced their way into the field, taking Tony with them" Bucky explained.
"You were on the team, weren't you son?" Uncle Brad asked with a look of understanding.
"Yes sir" Bucky nodded and Joseph looked surprised.
"Are they going to do it again?" he asked with a chuckle.
"They'll definitely think twice if you ask me. They took out most of the building without breaking a sweat" Clint smiled proudly. "One of our captors even peed his pants" he added with a dark chuckle.
"Tony... Clint... you are supposed to keep my baby far away from harm while she's expecting" mama pouted.
"There was no stopping Y/N or Bruce. Trust me, I tried" Tony replied honestly.
"Why didn't I hear about this from you, ladies?" she turned her attention on you and Wanda.
"First of all, I didn't want you to know at all" you took a bite of your scalloped cheese potatoes.
"And I was respecting that" Wanda added with a slight flush on her cheeks, clearly embarrassed about being caught keeping information away from family.
"What is it you can do again?" Austin asked curiously.
"She can call on fire, it covers her whole body when she wants it to. She can also throw fireballs. With her companions she's a force to be reckoned with. The enemies that she doesn't take care of, the pack does" Scott explained.
"I've seen it," Uncle Brad grinned. "Not the fireball part, that's new," he added.
"That sounds so cool" Joseph took a big bite of his brussel sprouts.
"It's so very cool, you should see it sometime" Scott grinned.
"Well, they can technically" you put your elbow on the table and your hand erupted into flames.
"That's so cool" Joseph said, chewing with his mouth full. "Can I touch it?"
"No, it will burn you" you let go of your ability and put your hand back down.
"Have you killed anyone?" Austin asked, and got a smack on the arm from Aunt Melanie. He winced, realizing that he probably shouldn't have asked that question.
"The walls of the last base that took some of the team members, are covered with blood and flames" Thor answered easily.
"Yes, I have," you said in a soft voice. Bucky immediately put his hand on your thigh reassuringly. "It's not something I do lightly," you added calmly, feeling reassured by Bucky's presence. "The last base should not have touched my family or my mate" you said decisively.
"The mate bond is very strong" Aunt Melanie nodded, giving her three children a stern look.
"Mama, Blue said Nana is going to give us all candy" Zora came running into the room, and went to Wanda.
"She said I've promised candy to everyone according to Blue" Mama chuckled.
"Zora, you need to wait" Wanda picked her up, but VIsion quickly took Zora away from Wanda so she could finish eating.
"I made some homemade candy for them. Don't worry, I remembered the cats as well" Mama promised.
"Can wolves eat the same thing as dogs?" Joseph asked curiously.
"We can, we just don't like the kibble" Cloud came into the room and answered for everyone, looking slightly grumpier than usual.
"There's so many voices" Annette grumbled, hearing the pups talk amongst themselves and Billy was catching up with Jasper in the corner.
"You'll get used to it" you gave a soft smile.
"It's just so loud" she frowned in response.
"I have some headphones, did you want to borrow my noise canceling headphones and go to my suite for a bit? It helps" you offered.
"No, it's okay. I'll go up to our room early maybe" she rolled her eyes. You brought your hand under the table and grasped Bucky's hand. Uncle Brad was frowning at his daughter, but seemed to be holding back.
"Well, you all have your own rooms while you stay here. It's on the upper floor. I'll show you the way once supper is done" Happy gave a cheerful smile, seeming undeterred by Annette's attitude.
"That would be wonderful, Happy" Uncle Brad smiled, looking a little relieved. "Thank you," he added quickly.

After supper was over, Happy, as promised, took Uncle Brad and his family back out to the jet to collect their things while their companions stayed behind to get their treats from Mama. Bucky went and got Alpine who barely left his shoulder the entire time, although he seemed interested in Annettes companion Aurora. Aurora didn't seem to know what to make of little Alpine, but Mama was quick with making sure they both got their cat treats she had made. Mama put the large bags of treats to the side once she was done and held out her hands to Bucky who handed her Alpine. Alpine looked at you and mama used her mind to speak to him. You only knew as much because he looked at her in shock and started to purr and let her take him in her arms. Everyone sat in the living room, looking at mama expectantly who seemed to be in her prime with so many animals in the room. Soren was perched on the couch behind you being very quiet, so you reached back and ran your hand over his feathers.
"I'm sorry about my niece. She's gotten a bit of an attitude" Mama finally broke the silence.
"She knows better, she's just getting used to all these... changes" Aurora was quick to respond, and you repeated it for the team's benefit.
"She will learn. The rest of the family seems to be taking this well" Mama gave a smile.
"Mama, uppy" Blue came to you and you bent forward in your seat to pick him up, but Bucky beat you to it and put Blue on his lap instead.
"Will she be mean to me?" Alpine asked a little worriedly.
"No, she likes cats," Aurora assured him. "It's just still new for us."
"We are companions, the same as you," Cloud reminded her.
"You were wild once" Bravo said softly, while you and Mama took turns keeping everyone up to date on what was being said.
"So was I, but you accepted me. Now you can accept them as well" Soren said with an air of authority. "You were warned to behave yourselves," he added quickly.
"I don't care what either of you say, they are family" Kendra went rolled onto her back to show Melody and Snow her stomach, and to show that she was docile. Anastasia took that moment to pounce on her and start licking her face and Kendra giggled.
"Anastasia" Nat called to her, looking a little nervous.
"Let me play with the pups" Kendra whined and played with her. Seraphina quickly came over, joined by Koa, Cedar, Edwin, Zephyr, and Zora. Blue whined watching them play, but seemed content to stay on Bucky's lap.
"They have too much energy," Snow giggled.
"I could get used to this," Kendra replied.
"Y/N, we should go out to use the grass. The pups will need to go soon" Cloud reminded you.
"On it" you stood up and opened the balcony door open and let a cool breeze in.
"I'll show you the way" Blue barked and jumped down, taking it on himself to lead the way out.
"We just go where we want?" Bravo asked a little curiously.
"Yes, go where you please. There is another pack of wolves outside so mind your manners" you warned him and he huffed slightly before following Blue. The rest of the pack, and Kendra went down the stairs and you left the door open before going back to Bucky and sitting on his lap. He simply wrapped his arm around your stomach and pulled you in close.
"Don't worry, their visit will be quick. It's just me and your uncle Brad staying after the wedding. Your aunt Melanie needs to go back for work, and the kids have school" Mama promised.
"I just don't want them to lose their confidence. They've come so far, and the pups don't know what it's like to be wild. They think they are babies, and just look different from their parents" you frowned.
"Stop worrying about small things like that. Mama's here" Mama smiled at you. "I love my new grandbaby" she cooed to Alpine who purred in response.
"I'm papa's companion" Alpine announced proudly and Aurora chuckled.
"A very good companion to have I would say" Mama kissed him on the forehead and he seemed to be pleased with all of the attention.
