Lovers to Parents (Bucky x reader)

Heartbeat

You pushed away from your plate and turned to Bucky who looked like he was done. He gave you a curious look and you shrugged. You were worried about him, and Hydra's plans to nab him.
"We need to do a cake tasting for the wedding" Bucky looked at Tony and Pepper, hoping they would have a resolution.
"We can have someone come here, we know a few good bakers that would be able to bring samples" Pepper quickly offered.
"That would be lovely" you quickly agreed to it, wanting nothing more than to make sure your Bucky and Steve were safe. "I also need to go out and do some shopping for some winter clothes"
"That we can do together" Wanda quickly offered.
"No way, they know she's important to me" Bucky shook his head.
"I'll be safe with Wanda" you pouted slightly. "It's just a few things. I'm cold in my summer clothes, and you know I get sick" you reminded Bucky. He frowned but finally nodded.
"Bring Loki and Thor with you?" he finally asked.
"It's going to be a full girls day out" Nat warned. "I'm coming"
"So am I, I need to get out once in a while" Pepper beamed.
"Of course we will go with the ladies on this outing" Thor quickly agreed.
"We will guard them with our lives," Loki vowed.
"I'll keep your men busy," Scott offered. "I've got some new moves to test in the gym"
"Want to test them on me first?" you asked with a mischievous grin.
"I don't think so," Bucky shook his head. "No sparring for you"
"I'm not made of glass" you pouted, looking at Scott to take up for you.
"Yeah, no. I'm not testing any moves on you until after maternity leave. I'm smarter than that. I'll get my ass handed to me by more than just two super soldiers" Scott chuckled.
"Mean" you huffed and sat back in your chair.
"Come on, we have an appointment," Bucky reminded you. He grabbed both of your dishes and carried them into the kitchen, before coming back and offering you his hand. You quickly took it and he started leading you to the medical bay where Doctor Cho normally set up.

"I was starting to wonder if you two were waiting for me to call you in" Doctor Cho joked as you walked in.
"Hey doc" you giggled and squeezed Bucky's hand as you walked in.
"You need to go change into this" she handed you a hospital gown and you looked at it for a moment, thinking it had no back.
"I'll go help her" Bucky got an excited look on his face.
"You get to fill out paperwork, dad" Doctor Cho handed him a clipboard and Bucky grimaced. "Since it's going to be a baby born with likely super soldier abilities, and or fire abilities we need to keep track of everything" she added quickly. Bucky nodded and took a seat at the chair beside the examination table, which was already raised at the back slightly for your comfort. He started filling out the forms trying to remember all of your cravings and of course mentioned the morning sickness until Loki's spell came into play. You were taking a while to get changed and he kept looking over at the changing room with a hopeful gaze. His eyes would drift back to the paper in front of him, but he was excited for the outcome of today.
You came out a few minutes later and Doctor Cho double tapped the examination table and you hopped up onto it. Bucky was just finishing filling out the insurance information on the form, which was thankfully, the last page he had to deal with for now. He stood up and handed Doctor Cho the forms and she nodded to herself, putting the clipboard to the side and grabbing some gel from the side of the table. She lifted up the hospital gown to reveal your powder blue lace panties and she pushed them down to be under your stomach. She turned and powered up the ultrasound machine beside her and you heard the hum of the equipment turning on.
"This is going to be a bit cold" she warned you, taking the gel and squirting it on your lower stomach and you nervously reached out to hold Bucky's hand. Doctor Cho saw the deep purple mark on your side and pulled up your gown a bit and frowned. "Regeneration machine for you after this young lady, what happened?" she pointed at the bruise.
"We got attacked at the farmer's market" you admitted.
"I'll give you my emergency contact number, next time if it happens, contact me" she looked a little pissed off at the bruise. Both you and Bucky quickly nodded in confirmation that you understood and she took the wand off of the ultrasound machine and pressed it against your lower stomach. You immediately heard a soft heartbeat and you felt Bucky hold your hand just a little tighter as you both looked at the screen to see a small bean there with a fluttering heartbeat. "Looks like you are ten weeks" she assessed.
"Would you look at that" Bucky sounded awed and you looked at him instead and he had small tears running down his face, matching your own face. "That's our baby," he grinned proudly.
"You're going to be the best daddy" you gazed at him lovingly. He bent forward and kissed you softly on the lips.
"You're going to make an amazing mom" he sighed against your lips.
"We should check in once a month for now, but I'll shave that down to every few weeks" Doctor Cho decided.
"Can we have a picture of our bean?" you asked, not wanting to stop hearing the heartbeat.
"Of course" Doctor Cho nodded and did a quick printout while Bucky leaned up and kissed you on the cheek again. She let you listen to the heartbeat for a few more minutes before she cleaned the wand off, then your stomach. You squirmed off of the table and headed back to the changing room. Bucky quickly followed you in and you looked at him in surprise. He easily reached behind you and pulled on the ties holding the gown to you and gave a mischievous grin. You let the gown fall forward and he got down on his knees and pressed kisses to your lower stomach gazing up at you lovingly.
"Our little miracle" he whispered softly.
"Don't bother getting dressed, you are headed for the regeneration machine" Doctor Cho called through the screen door. Bucky grimaced and stood back up to his full height. You walked out in just your undergarments and followed both of them to the regeneration machine and you slipped in. Doctor Cho slipped the glass lid over top of you and Bucky quickly took a seat beside you, watching you intently.
"You know I have to go and work in the lab after this?" you asked Bucky as the machine turned on.
"Just let me watch you for a bit" he gave his knee weakening smile and you shook your head, but closed your eyes with the hint of a smile on your face. You were looking forward to the bruising to be gone if the truth be told, It was tender to the touch and it hurt slightly to move around.

As soon as you were done in the regeneration machine, Bucky was quick to help Doctor Cho lift the glass lid and you looked down to see the bruise was gone from your side. Bucky held out his hand to help you down, which you gladly accepted. You loved the way his calluses on his right hand brushed against the soft skin of your palm. He led you back to the changing room and grabbed your dress, helping you put it on over your head. The pair of you started to head out of the medical wing after Doctor Cho confirmed she wanted to see you again in two weeks, and stopped just outside the doors.
"What are your plans for today?" you asked, not wanting to leave his side yet.
"Gym, you?" he asked as though he didn't know.
"Work in the lab" you leaned forward and kissed him softly on the lips. He hummed into the kiss and sighed as you pulled back.
"How do you feel about a visitor?" he wiggled his eyebrows at you.
"As long as it's my loving fiancé, I'm sure I can handle it" you giggled and kissed him again for good measure.
"When are you going to go do your shopping?" he asked quickly, looking a little anxious.
"As soon as the girls are good to go, probably this weekend.  I'd rather not put it off too long" you gave a soft smile. "I've been cold, you know"
"Wear my sweaters" he took a step towards you, taking off his hoodie and putting it over your shoulders. You quickly borrowed into it, slipping your arms through. It was still warm from his body heat.
"Thank you, my love" you cooed to him and he grinned in spite of himself.
"I love you" he whispered, running his thumb over your bottom lip.
"I love you, I'll see you soon" you gave his thumb a soft kiss and turned to head towards the lab. You felt him grab at the sweater, and you looked back at him with a giggle and he winked at you in response. You waved to him and he nodded to himself and headed quickly towards the gym.
When you got in the lab, Tony and Bruce were waiting for you with clean whiteboards ready for you to look over. You hummed to yourself and made your way to your desk.
"What are you working on Bruce?" you asked curiously as you sat down, seeing him at his chemistry station.
"Their serum, we have a sample of it. I'm just working out how they did it" he barely spared you a glance.
"Tony?" you looked over at him.
"Sending you some work" he responded quickly, and you saw him typing furiously at his computer. You opened up your laptop and saw incoming emails from Tony for specifications on the counter serum, only looking at possibilities of it being mass produced, rather than in the small batches that you had created with Bruce. You hummed to yourself and quickly set to work. You started on a notepad, but had to get up eventually and start working on the larger whiteboards to work out your formulas. You were nervous about the amount of wolfsbane that would be used, but knew that Fury would be able to easily get all the ingredients. Bruce took a break once in a while from what he was doing to come over to take a look at what you were doing, and add in his own calculations after he got the gist of what you were doing. You were knee deep in calculations that you barely recognized lunch time, only taking a few minutes to come out to eat. Bucky seemed to understand, only requesting a kiss before you left to go back to work again.
By supper time you were confident in your calculations, and sent it back to Tony who told you that tomorrow you were working on more of the weapons that would administer the counter serum and you nodded in acknowledgement before making your way out of the office.
When you came out Bucky was leaning against the wall with his arms crossed and was waiting patiently for you. You barely saw him as you started to sweep by, and he reached out and grabbed you, pulling you back and gave you a soft kiss on the side of your neck.
"Work is over, now it's you and me" he held you close from behind.
"Supper first, I'm starving" you hummed as his hands ran over your lower stomach.
"I'm starving too, just not for food" he whispered into the cusp of your ear and you felt your face flush slightly.
"I'll give you a feast later" you giggled.
"I'm holding you to it" he murmured, and caught your earlobe in between his teeth and pulled slightly.
"Where's the pack?" you whispered to him.
"Eating, I've been keeping them in the bedroom most of the day. Stevie said I was being too aggressive in the gym and wanted me to take a step back" he huffed.
"Something eating at you Sargent?" you raised an eyebrow, leaning back into him.
"Our baby almost got hurt yesterday" he said a little gruffly. "They came after me and my family"
"And you taught them a lesson" you reminded him easily. "Take it easy on the team, it's not their fault" you reminded him. He huffed, but didn't answer. You took his right hand and brought it up to your lips and gave him a gentle kiss before leading him towards the dining room.
