Lovers to Parents (Bucky x reader)

Fury's offer

The following morning Bucky woke you up briefly before he took out the pack, and you stayed in bed with Alpine and snuggled him. You were glad to have a moment to collect your thoughts without all of the noise in the room. You loved your companions, but sometimes the noise became too much. Alpine only purred loudly in your tight embrace, and you peppered the top of his head with kisses.
"Where did they go mama?" Alpine finally asked.
"Outside to use the bathroom, and get a morning run in" you whispered out loud.
"Why does Blue keep calling me his little brother?" he asked softly.
"Because that's what you are to him, you are the youngest member of the pack" you said with a small smile.
"This is a big pack. My mother used to call them prides" he said, and you looked at him with another smile.
"Every family calls it something different. As humans, we call it family, but with the wolves, they call it pack" you advised him.
"What do you like to call it?" Alpine asked quickly.
"Family, if I'm going to be honest. But I'm outnumbered" you giggled. "We both are," you added.
"Family, I like that one" Alpine purred.
"This family is growing too. Do you see my belly? There is a human baby in there, and they will be your little brother or sister one day" you explained.
"I'll be the best big brother I can be" Alpine said in awe, giving your cheek a lick.
"You should let Blue try to be the best big brother he can be too" you said softly.
"He's so big though, I'm scared he's going to hurt me" he admitted.
"I think that's the last thing he wants to do. Besides that, Cloud, Jasper, Snow and Melody are watching out for you too" you gave him a kiss on top of his head again. "Blue is just a baby, just like you" you cooed to him.
"We are all your babies?" he asked, a little confused.
"You all are to me," you nodded and gave him a final kiss on top of the head. "I have to get ready for work" you huffed slightly.
"Is papa going to stay with me while you are at work this time?" he asked as you started getting out of bed, and he moved up to lay on top of the pillows. You turned around and flicked the comforter to make the bed before heading towards the dresser. You picked out a pair of black jeans and one of Bucky's t-shirts since he still had some clothes from the last time he was stationed there left behind. You put on pink undergarments, wanting to feel at least a little girly for the day. You put on a pair of socks with llamas all over it and put on your sneakers while Alpine watched you intently. You went over to his food dish and filled it up, and then grabbed the community water bowl and filled that up from the bathroom sink and put it away before you took the time to use the facilities and put on some moisturizer. You brushed your hair and teeth before you came back out and sat on the side of the bed waiting for Bucky to come back, while petting Alpine gently. He had more questions than you knew to deal with, mainly about the pack. You finally admitted that the wolves were all your companions and that opened the doors for more questions. Suddenly Alpine had many more questions, but Bucky was back with the pack and you gratefully got out of having that conversation. You knew Cloud would probably have a lot of answers to give later. You gave Alpine another kiss and followed Bucky back out and towards the cafeteria.

After breakfast, where you had shared an entire plate of bacon with Blue, you headed back to the lab for the day while promising Bucky you would meet him for lunch. Pepper and Happy went to Stark industries to work, and Nat decided she was going to spend time reading one of the books she had brought with her and hanging out with Anastasia for the day. You tried to warn Bucky and Cloud that Alpine had a whole slew of questions, completely forgetting that Bucky couldn't understand Alpine or Cloud speaking. You spend a majority of the day in the lab, and you did come out for lunch. The serum needed another day, but the batch was coming along nicely. When it was supper time you didn't even have to look up when you heard the door opening. Tony just shut down his computer system and both you and Bruce went and took off your gloves. When you looked over, you saw Nat, Pepper, Happy and Bucky standing there and waiting expectantly. You threw your gloves in the garbage and made your way over to Bucky and he brought you in for a slow hug. As soon as you pulled away, he helped you take off your white lab coat and he put it up beside Bruce's that had just finished being put up.
"Where's the wolves?" you asked, feeling a little confused.
"They are all in our room" Bucky gave a smile. "Alpine spent most of the morning sitting with Cloud and Jasper, and the afternoon trying to play with Blue, Edwin and Anastasia. We brought them to the main living room to play but it started to get pretty busy in there so we went back to our room"
"We got back shortly after lunch, and wanted to get Edwin some exercise," Happy explained.
"He did not like it in the office all morning" Pepper gave him a soft kiss on top of his head. You could tell the days of carrying around the pups was coming to an end soon. Edwin was starting to prove to be more black with marbled greys, while Anastasia was marbled grey and white with a few hints of black now. Their puppy fur was quickly leaving, and they were growing into the adult coats.
"Well we better go get them for supper" you felt Bucky put his arm over your shoulders and pull you in for a kiss on the side of your head before his hand slipped down to your lower back and he led you out to leave first. You led the way back to your room where your heard a few barks coming through the door and a loud meow before you opened the door quickly to see Alpine on top of the dresser with his fur all fluffed out. "Alpine?" you asked, seeing that Blue was barking at him.
"Mama!" Alpine ran along the dresser and jumped up on your shoulders before jumping to Bucky's behind you. "Papa" he started purring and rubbing his face against Buckys, covering him with his scent.
"What happened?" you asked, looking at Blue who had a guilty looking Anastasia and Edwin beside him.
"We wanted him to come to play on the floor with us" Blue gave a soft whimper.
"He was being too rough with the baby" Melody quickly ratted him out. "We told him as much."
"Blue, what are you going to do when my human baby comes?" you scolded him softly.
"Be a good big brother," Blue whined.
"Practice being a better brother to little Alpine" you whispered to him. "He's small, he can't play the same way as you do. You need to be gentle" you reminded him.
"I'll be gentle," Blue promised, puffing his chest out.
"Good boy" you picked him up and gave him a kiss on top of his head.
"What was that about? Is everything okay?" Bucky asked you as you cuddled Blue and Alpine continued to purr from his shoulder.
"Just a little bit of rough play, but Blue promises to be a better big brother" you cooed to Blue while you spoke.
"Mama, I decided I'm going to be Papa's companion" Alpine told you. "How do I bond to him like the wolves did to you?" he asked.
"You can't in the same way, but you can keep doing what you are doing" you were surprised at the question. "Alpine says he is your companion now, Bucky" you gave him a wan smile.
"My first companion" Bucky swelled with pride. "I'll have to take good care of you" he gave Alpine a quick kiss.
"Come on Edwin, time for supper" Tony came in, pushing past you both and picking him up easily.
"Anastasia, my princess" Bruce called and she started running towards him. He quickly picked her up in the hallway and cooed to her.
"Come on, I'm hungry" Melody jumped off the bed and started making her way towards the door. "We are growing mothers, we need to eat Y/N"
"This is true. I wonder if we can get some extra pickles tonight, I didn't see any at breakfast time" you gave a slight pout and turned.
"I'm coming with papa," Alpine announced.
"You'll have to stay close," you giggled. "Alpine says he is coming darling," you told Bucky quickly.
"It's a companion's job to stay close" Jasper seemed to approve.
"Unless I'm working" you gave a soft smile at him.
"No, we should be with you. But babysitting your mate seems to be a close second" Snow gave a playful growl.
"Oh, you do very well when you are babysitting my mate, thank you" you spoke out loud and Bucky paused to look at you while you were walking towards the cafeteria.
"Babysitting me?" he chuckled.
"You are the one in danger, remember?" you asked him and he nodded, but chose not to respond.

At supper Bucky had gotten you a plate of pickles to eat, along with some extra dessert to eat after you were done with your meal. Alpine had managed to stay on his shoulder the entire time, and remained stoic, like a statue the entire time. You saw a lot of Shield agents were watching your table and whispering to one another, but you chose to ignore them. Deborah had walked by, but didn't stop to say hello. For that you were glad. You could also swore you had seen John Walker in the crowd, but he smartly stayed away as well. Melody had gotten an extra steak at Bucky's insistence, and she seemed quite pleased.
After eating you all went outside for a long walk to let the wolves get their nightly run and use the bathroom. You stayed out for a few hours, just enjoying the autumn weather and each other's company.
When you went back inside you quickly went back to your room with Bucky and the two of you got undressed for bed and curled up in bed with one another.
The following morning Bucky was quick to give you your good morning kiss before he slipped out of bed and brought the wolves with him. Alpine announced he was going to watch over you while his companion went outside, since you were his mate. You tried not to giggle at how adorable he was being, but also knew he was taking this matter to heart.
You took the time to get ready for another day in the lab, hoping that the serum would be ready by the end of the day, just so you could go home again. You wanted to ask Bucky if he had checked in with the architect again, but you knew that he had been calling a lot last week and didn't want to push it. It was getting closer and closer to your wedding date, and you needed to know that your choice of honeymoon was going to be ready. Otherwise it was going to be at the compound, and your mother and Uncle Brad and his family would be there. As much as you loved them, you wanted your time with your new husband as much as possible.
After Bucky got back, Alpine got back up on his shoulder again and you all made your way to the cafeteria. Bucky made sure to get extra food for breakfast for you and Blue to share, and went so far as to ask for some pickles to go with breakfast. You flushed, but he didn't care, he just wanted to take care of you and your needs.
Everything in the cafeteria seemed to stop as you were finishing your breakfast, and the room got quiet. You turned in your seat to see Fury walking towards your table in his normal black get up and long leather jacket.
"Good morning" he nodded his head and grabbed a spare chair and put it at your table between Tony and Bucky. Bruce looked as confused as you were. "I heard there's more companions" he looked over at Alpine with an appraising eye.
"The new companion's name is Alpine, and he chose Bucky" you gave a soft smile. "Good morning Director Fury"
"You look like you are glowing" he smirked at you and you flushed. "You look good."
"Bucky was able to get me some pickles to go with breakfast" you continued to blush.
"How is the serum coming along?" he asked, directing this question at Tony.
"We've been working at it. It should be done today" Tony took out his phone and gave it a quick look. "It's nice we don't have any of the interns under our feet."
"We have them all helping to do the processing, they are needed elsewhere. Due to your little stunt, we have all hands on deck" Fury looked between you and Bruce.
"They took our mates, they deserved what they got" you shrugged.
"I didn't say they didn't. But you got hurt, and you are supposed to be safe from all that right now" he gave a little bit of sass.
"Bucky's said as much as well" you shrugged again. "I'd do it again," you added quickly.
"So would I" Bruce added in a hushed voice. "Even the Hulk was on board with it this time."
"Do you have everything you need in the lab?" Fury asked, changing the direction of the conversation.
"Everything we've asked for is there. We could use more computers if you want us to keep coming back, but that won't be happening for over a month from now at least. We are going to be off limits" Tony nodded.
"Off limits?" Fury asked in surprise.
"Call it a vacation from Shield if you want. Y/N and Bucky have their wedding and honeymoon, and we aren't coming back without her. It's her serum. We could also easily make it at the compound and we aren't really needed here" Tony said matter of factly.
"I'll keep that in mind, but I might ask you to come back," he warned. "We also need Bucky and Nat for interrogations."
"Then make my room bigger, there's not enough room for both of us and all the companions" you said, surprising yourself.
"Done" Fury thought about it for a second before responding. "I'll do that during your little vacation from us" he added. "Besides, it's nice having you back on site. You were one of my top scientists"
"Until I became an Avenger" you grinned.
"You could always come back," Fury said with a hopeful lilt in his tone.
"Not happening, you can't steal her back when I rightfully stole her from you. Besides, she's invaluable to the team. And she wouldn't leave her future husband's side if you wanted her to" Tony had a flash of panic on his face, but then seemed to calm down as he spoke.
"I'm honored, but I like it where I am" you gave a soft smile.
"The offer will always stand" Fury nodded to you and stood up before he walked back out of the room.
