Bachelor party

"Let's get this party started!" Sam came barging into the suite and Bucky groaned loudly at the intrusion. He already had Steve in the room and honestly, that felt like too much. He looked down at the pack and pups playing on the floor and felt a set of nails digging into his leg to see Alpine crawling up his leg.
"What are you doing little man?" Bucky picked him up with his flesh hand. He felt like Alpine was responding, and he regretted that he couldn't hear it. He gave Alpine a kiss on his snowy white head and sat back in his chair more.
"More like what are you doing? This is a party, and you are being the party pooper" Sam told him quickly.
"It's just not the same" Bucky grumpily shook his head. "I feel out of sorts when she's not here" he said, referring to you.
"I know buddy, but you need to try," Steve sighed heavily. "Did you finish writing your vows?" he asked.
"A month ago" Bucky admitted. "I've tried fiddling with them, I'm so nervous"
"Why don't you read 'em to us?" Sam suggested, sitting down on the couch next to Steve who nodded and looked at Bucky expectantly.
"The only one that's going to hear them first is Y/N" Bucky shook his head. "But I did put a lot of thought into them," he smirked. "Is Morgan coming for the party?" he asked curiously.
"Morgan and Penelope will be here for the wedding, but he's working at Shield tonight. He took that job offer finally and can't really ask for time off. He's getting paid a lot more money, and is already higher up in the ranks thanks to Fury" Steve shook his head.
"Makes sense, he helped out our Songbird as much as he did. The man is committed to getting the job done" Sam nodded to himself.
"Yeah, I owe him a lot for that. I used to be jealous of him" Bucky admitted.
"I remember," Steve chuckled. "Everytime he would stop by you would go on a rant about Y/N" he added.
"I'm just glad he's married," Bucky shrugged. "Less competition," he added slyly.
"There was never any competition, once you stopped being an asshole" Sam smirked.
"She was so confused that first day, when she woke up and you were sitting outside on her balcony" Steve began to reminisce.
"I just wanted her to be safe" Bucky frowned.
"It was completely out of character for you, you gotta admit" Steve smiled at his best friend. "At least compared to how you were treating her up until that point" he added quickly.
"That's fair" Bucky groaned thinking back. Blue pawed at his leg and he reached down and picked him up quickly, and cuddled him on his lap. "You changed a lot of things, little man" he leaned down and gave Blue a kiss on the end of his nose. Blue whined and licked his face in response, but remained fairly unenergetic. Alpine meowed and came down off of Bucky's shoulder and laid on Bucky's lap beside Blue and started to purr. Blue just put his muzzle on top of the small kitten and closed his eyes in response.
"Even Alpine is worried about him" Sam said in awe. Suddenly Melody jumped up on Sam's lap and he chuckled in response. "There's my girl! How are you doing beautiful? Did you need those ribs rubbed again?" he asked as he started rubbing each side of her rib cage. Melody let out a small huff and stayed still for the treatment, obviously enjoying it thoroughly.
"So what do you want to do today?" Steve asked Bucky pointedly. "We have a poker night planned," he added quickly.
"What else?" Bucky perked up, the wheels in his brain already turning.
"Anything you want," Steve shrugged.
"Asgardian mead" Bucky smirked.
"Now he's talking, alright. We can do that" Sam nodded animatedly. Steve nodded as well, and took out his phone to send off a text.
"What else?" Steve asked.
"Could go fishing, but I don't know that I can leave the pups alone that long," Bucky mused.
"How about this, I'll watch the pack and you go fishing with Brad for a bit. Once you get back we will have a few drinks and play poker for the rest of the night. We already ordered your favorite pizza" Steve continued to text into his phone.
"Well, we do have fishing rods back at the cabin..." Bucky seemed to think about it for a minute.
"Get dressed, Brad is on his way" Steve gave a wan smile and Bucky nodded but didn't move.
"I can't go yet" Bucky said softly.
"And why not?" Sam asked, still giving most of his attention to Melody. Snow and Jasper jumped up on either side of Steve on the loveseat and Steve just put his arms around them, and rubbed their coats while Seraphina played on the floor with Blue's toys.
"Both my little guys are comfortable" Bucky shrugged, looking pointedly at his lap. Both men chuckled but didn't say anything. They sat in companionable silence for a few minutes before the door swung open and in came uncle Brad and Soren.
"I thought we were going fishing? I sent the boys to help out Tony in his lab" he grinned, announcing himself.
"You mean annoy Tony in his lab?" Sam laughed.
"Same difference. They like that stuff, I liked the idea of fishing!" he came more into the room. "What's that?" he asked, looking at Melody. "Melody says she doesn't want you to go, Sam," he reported.
"What are Snow, Jasper and Seraphina saying?" Steve asked quickly.
"Snow and Jasper are cooing over their daughter and saying they chose the right human to raise their girl. Seraphina is just chattering to the stuffed toy, and asking Blue to come play. Blue and Alpine both want their mama, but they know she's gone for the night so they are sulking. Which they can do on Steve's lap" Brad came over and picked up both of them easily and deposited them on Steve's lap.
"I wish I could do more for them," Bucky huffed.
"You're doing enough, let's go. You're out of excuses" Brad chuckled.

Bucky and Brad drove up to the cabin and spent most of the day fishing and having soft conversation about what was next. Bucky had admitted he wasn't sure, he just wanted to spend the rest of his life with you, while Brad assured him that you would. Life mates are rare, and something that needs to be protected. Every fish they ended up catching, was either thrown back or if it was a good sized, given to Soren to eat who was very happy with that outcome.
When it was getting close to supper time, Brad helped Bucky pack everything up and they put away everything at the cabin before making their way back to the compound. The drive seemed short, but they were both in good company.
When they got in the front door, the compound seemed almost eerily quiet until they went to Bucky's suite and it was filled with everyone waiting with all the wolf pups. There was almost standing room only, and Tony was talking loudly about how he needed to add a bit more room than he initially calculated.
"It's about time! We were about to send a search party" Steve grinned as soon as he laid eyes on his best friend. "Look, even Blue got back on the floor to play" he pointed to all the pups playing in the center of the room with Snow and Jasper keeping a careful eye on all of them. Melody was still laying on Sam and enjoying the additional cuddles.
"Melody is missing her Cloud and her companion" Joseph came over whispering. "She doesn't want to leave Sam yet" he added confidentially.
"Pizza's on its way, let's get this party started" Tony clapped his hands together.
"The Asgardian mead is already on the table" Thor grinned happily. "I am looking forward to seeing who all will dare try it," he added.
"The mortal's can't you oaf" Loki rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, I'm not trying that stuff. I'll stick with whisky" Brad shook his head. "Bucky told me about that stuff, and if it can get him drunk I don't want to even touch it with a ten foot pole"
"I'd like to try it" Austin said a little hopefully.
"No, you aren't old enough to drink yet" Brad shook his head again.
"Come on, let's go" Happy started directing everyone to leave. The pups were first out of the room, and Alpine clambered off of his cat tree to jump up on Bucky's shoulder again. Happy led the way out of the room and they headed towards the dining room where the table was already set up with poker chips, cards, snacks, paper plates, alcohol, red solo cups, and napkins.
"What do you think dad? Tony got us to help set it up" Joseph said excitedly.
"It looks great kid," Bucky said quickly. "Thank you" he gave a large smile. He went and took his normal seat and couldn't help but think of you, and how you always sat next to him, if not directly on his lap. He couldn't wait for the next heat where you would be clingy again. He liked it when you were a little more clingy. Everyone took their seats at the table, and curiously enough left all the ladies' seats empty.
"This is weird," Peter said looking around.
"We will have to sit closer while playing poker," Tony frowned. "We will have to split it up to a few different teams so that it's playable," he added.
"It's going to be fine" Steve assured him. "For now, let's just focus on one thing at a time" he smirked. The doorbell rang and Happy got up quickly with Sam right behind him to help. They came back a few minutes later with ten large pizzas, and set it down on the table with flourish.
"Did we get the pickle one?" Bucky asked, and then grimaced, remembering you weren't there.
"Not tonight" Happy shook his head kindly.
"Pickle?" Austin asked with a look of disgust on his face.
"You should see your cousin eat it. She loves it" Tony advised him.
"It's one of her more curious cravings," Bruce added quickly.
"I just hope she's doing okay," Bucky huffed.
"Alright, I said I wasn't going to do this but..." Clint took out his phone and showed the picture Nat had taken of you, Wanda and your mama at the table with big smiles on your faces. "Laura sent it to me" he shrugged as Bucky stared at the picture a little longer than necessary.
"I've never seen that dress" Bucky finally found his words.
"Wanda purchased it for this evening" Vision took a quick glance at the picture.
"Don't worry Buck, you'll have your girl tomorrow" Scott promised with a wan smile on his face.
