Sam and Brutus, a friendship forged

You ended up spending the rest of the day in Nat's suite with Loki, Nat and Wanda, only coming down for meals. When Bucky came home he announced the car would be delivered to the cabin next week. Waking up Wednesday morning you went for your walk with Bucky in the woods again, anxiously thinking about your family arriving at the compound the following day and excitedly talking about it to Bucky. He seemed calm, but you could tell he was getting anxious for the wedding to come. You spent Wednesday morning baking with Nat and Wanda in the kitchen, and the rest of the day in your suite with Bucky, just enjoying your time with the pack.
When you woke up Thursday morning, you knew this was it. Mama was coming today, and so was uncle Brad and his family. You hadn't seen most of uncle Brad's family for over five years, so you were a little anxious about it. Bucky was awake first thing morning, and was rubbing your baby bump that looked like you were at fifteen weeks, even though you were only at thirteen weeks. Your anxiety went up slightly, wondering if the dress would still fit. It was like Bucky could feel your anxiety in the bond, and he leaned in to kiss you on the back of your shoulder and spread his hand over the bump.
"Good morning sugar, what's wrong?" he asked, he still sounded a bit tired.
"What if the dress doesn't fit? I haven't seen Uncle Brad's family in over five years. What if they judge me for having so many companions?" you said, your breath quickening.
"I thought he lost his Luna shortly before you got Cloud?" he asked, a little confused. "How could you have seen them only five years ago?"
"They used to go visit mama all the time. I used to see them on my visits to see mama" you bit your bottom lip.
"Is there more than one Luna mama?' Blue asked quickly.
"Of course there are, sweet boy" Melody cooed to him. "Luna was the name of a companion of Uncle Brad. We must not bring her up while they are visiting."
"But why?" Blue huffed softly.
"His companion was murdered, and it's painful for him to speak about," Cloud informed him, sounding somber when he spoke. "Just like if your mama lost one of us, she would be heart broken and sad."
"I don't want mama to be sad," Blue whined.
"What's being said?" Bucky asked you in a whisper since you had zoned out again. He was close enough to your earlobe that you jumped slightly, but he always knew how to get your attention. You quickly explained to him what they were talking about, and he seemed at a loss of what to say. He kissed your shoulder again, and pulled you in closer.
"Mama, why are you scared?" Blue came in closer to your face and licked your nose.
"I'm not scared Blue, I'm anxious" you giggled at his wet tongue.
"Why though?" he sat back on his haunches. You marveled for a moment at how quickly he was growing, and soon you wouldn't be able to carry him around anymore.
"We have a lot of big things happening over the next few days. Your nana is coming" you smiled at him, speaking out loud for Bucky's benefit.
"She brings candy!" he wagged his tail and you giggled, whispering it to Bucky.
"You're not allowed too much candy, young man. You'll get an upset stomach" Bucky spoke up.
"But papa! Uncle Steve lets me have as many treats as I want when I stay over" Blue pouted and you whispered it Bucky.
"Your Uncle Steve and I are going to be having a talk I think" Bucky chuckled and shook his head. "Fucking punk" he murmured under his breath.
"Are we going for a walk again?" Jasper asked, standing up on the bed.
"Yes, we are going for a walk" you nodded quickly. "I just need to use the ladies room and we need to get changed," you added.
"I'll grab the ball! I want the pink one" Melody dashed off of the bed and went into the living room. She gave a bark and came back into the bedroom with the ball sticking out of her mouth.
"Time to get up?" Bucky asked you, still holding you close.
"How can you say no to that face" you giggled, looking at Melody waiting expectantly.
"I can't," he admitted and rolled off the bed. Alpine jumped up onto the pillows and you quickly got out of bed as well. You headed to the bathroom and did your morning routine before coming back out and finding Bucky in the closet almost dressed already. You took off all your clothes and he licked his top lip while looking at you heatedly. "You know, we don't need to go for a walk," he whispered to you.
"Oh yes we do!" Snow barked at him, coming around the corner. You relayed the message and he groaned.
"FIne, but a quick walk," Bucky relented.
"And then it's breakfast" you giggled.
"Doll, you're killing me" he huffed.
"You can wait for the wedding night" you took out matching undergarments and put them on. You grabbed a navy blue t-shirt, acid wash jeans, and one of Bucky's zip up hoodies and put them on. Once you were done, you put on your sneakers while Bucky put on his boots and he went to the balcony door and opened it up. Melody dashed out first, quickly followed by the rest of the pack, with Blue at the end barking excitedly.
"Get your jacket on, Sugar" Bucky reminded you and you huffed slightly but went into the closet and grabbed your leather jacket. You came back out and he waited patiently. You could hear the pack barking excitedly, and went to the door to see the Shadow wolf pack was waiting at the bottom of the stairs for you and Bucky to go on your walk. You couldn't help but smile, thinking you really were lucky. You pulled your phone out of your pocket and texted Sam to put out the plates of cubed up steak early and to come join you for throwing the ball for the wolves. You barely made it to the steps when he texted back that he would meet you shortly.

You rushed your walk so you could get to the end quickly, and the wolves seemed to notice. When Sam came out the Shadow Wolves perked up and he made his way over with a huge smile on his face.
"Uncle Sam!" Blue bounded toward him and jumped up on him. Sam picked him up with ease and chuckled.
"Good morning, good morning!" he grinned. Snow dropped the ball and nosed it towards the Shadow wolf pack that were standing a little off to the side. Brutus, who hadn't played ball yet, but only walked beside you while you made your way through the woods went and took the ball and went towards Sam. Sam looked at you curiously and you couldn't help but beam at him. He slowly set down Blue and accepted the ball from Brutus. "How are you doing, big guy?" Sam timidly reached out and pet Brutus on the head who stood still for it.
"That actually feels good," Brutus hummed.
"He says that feels good," you told Sam, who smiled proudly in response.
"You can come to me anytime, I'll give you lots of lovin," Sam promised Brutus.
"My Sam does give some of the best rubs" Melody cooed. Sam seemed to be getting more comfortable and sat down on the ground, carding his fingers through Brutus' fur who stood still and just let Sam do as he wished. Blue tried to coax the other shadow wolves into playing with him, but they were watching Brutus closely, and obviously waiting for their own turn. They had come to trust Sam since he was so diligent in making sure they were fed and always giving them space. They were coming to him on their own terms and you could tell Sam was loving every second of this. Blue suddenly vaulted himself at you and jumped and you reached out to catch him. He was starting to get a bit heavy, but you didn't dare say a thing, only groaned a little as you held him close.
"Can I see our boy?" Bucky, who had been watching closely, didn't miss a thing. You let him take Blue and he held him close. You gave Blue a few kisses, and Blue tried to make his way back to you but Bucky had him held closely. "Stay with me little man, papa needs love too. Besides, mama is carrying a baby and we need to be careful with her," Bucky whispered softly to Blue.
"But I want hugs from mama too!" Blue whined.
"How about we will lay on the couch later, and you can have all your hugs" you cooed to Blue. "Papa is right little one. You are getting a bit big for me, but not for your papa" you explained quickly.
"One of these days I'm going to have to get you hooked up to the machine again so I can talk to the pack" Bucky leaned over towards you and kissed you on top of your head.
"Did you want to talk to them before or after the wedding?" you asked curiously.
"After we get home from the honeymoon. If I want to talk to them before the wedding it will be with your mama or uncle Brad" he gave a swift smile. You turned your attention back to Sam who now had the shadow wolf pack all coming to him for pets. He had his one hand on Brutus, and continued to pet each wolf as they came close to him. Each wolf from the pack got some attention before one of them picked up the ball timidly and gave it to Sam. He grinned widely and threw the ball as far as he could. All of the shadow wolves took off after the ball, and Brutus just laid down on the ground with his head on Sam's lap. You could feel a severe chill in the air, and hoped that Sam wasn't going to get sick.
"I think we did what we set out to do, hmm?" Bucky whispered to you.
"I think we did" you smiled at him, and leaned against his arm.
"I'll let Tony know you'll probably be late for breakfast bird brain" he called to Sam, causing you to giggle.
"Worth it!" Sam chuckled, while still petting Brutus.
"I'll let it slide this time, but I want him to rub my ribs later. I need my Sam cuddles too" Melody started leading the way back inside while Bucky was still carrying Blue.
"I'll let him know later" you whispered through your mind. Cloud came over and licked your hand and you looked down at him with a broad smile on your face. Soon he would be helping you walk down the aisle and you would officially be Mrs. Barnes.
