Lovers to Parents (Bucky x reader)

Getting Alpine settled in

You and Wanda drove quietly to the pet store, with a quick stop at Starbucks to fuel up. You got a caffeine free drink, while Wanda went with a decaf Americano. You turned up the music and you both sang to the music as you made your way there.
"Your rooms are going to be too small soon" Wanda teased you as you parked the truck.
"You should have seen how much Bucky's face lit up when he saw little Alpine" you cooed as you both got out of the truck.
"He looked like he was a proud papa, that's for sure" Wanda came around and linked arms with you as you both headed into PetSmart. You both separated to grab a shopping cart each and started walking down each of the aisles. You grabbed a smaller dog bed for Alpine, so you could put it up somewhere high for him, away from the pack. You then grabbed a cat tree for him, even though you weren't sure where you would have the room. You grabbed an automatic cat box, so you didn't have to worry too much about cleaning the cat box every day. You grabbed some litter and a few packages of kitten food, both wet and dry since you were unsure of what Alpine would prefer. Wanda filled her cart with a new dog bed, telling you Zora had ripped the old one already, and a bunch of durable toys. You both paid and went back out to the truck, having spent over an hour inside the store.
"What's on your mind?" Wanda asked politely, since you were hesitating on starting the truck back up.
"It's just nice to be out of the compound, but I know Alpine is probably very hungry right now" you bit your bottom lip a little unsurely. "Bucky doesn't want me going very far where he can't go with me right now"
"He's starting on small missions starting on Monday again" she reminded you. "He won't be as stir crazy then"
"Yeah, I just wish there was something more I could do for him," you admitted.
"He knows" she gave a wan smile. "The better question is who is going to put the cat tree together" she was trying to get your mind off of your uncertainty.
"Oh, that will likely be Bucky. He's against me lifting anything" you rolled your eyes. "I'm almost willing to bet he's waiting outside when we get back, or has someone waiting for us"
"If it's not him, it will be Steve" she nodded with a slight giggle. "How about I come down for some tea tonight?"
"Definitely. We should invite Loki too, he seems to enjoy having tea" you started up the truck. You took out your phone and saw a missed text message from Bucky asking you to let him know when you were on your way home. You quickly messaged him to let him know you were on your way home now, and he sent a quick heart in response.
"I think Loki would love the invitation" Wanda smiled happily. "He seems interested in getting to know the wolves more too"
"Melody would take to him pretty easy. She's a sassy one, but she loves the extra affection. I think if she wasn't my companion she would go to Sam" you grinned as you backed out of the parking spot.
"Sam?" Wanda giggled. "He was the one that was most scared of them at first"
"She goes to him for almost everything. She loves when he comes downstairs, she gets extra cuddles" you giggled as well. "Should I stop and get Bucky a coffee?" you asked as you started driving.
"He would probably appreciate it," Wanda nodded.
"I'm grabbing one of those strawberry Frappuccino's" you smirked. "Want another one?"
"Sure, I'll be up for a while anyways" she quickly agreed to one.

When you got in the parking lot, Bucky was standing outside holding Alpine still with Steve beside him. Both you and Wanda broke into a fit of giggles, and you parked the truck. Steve came and grabbed a majority of the bags while Wanda just grabbed her bags, and bed. You went to grab the box for the cat tree and cat box, but Bucky came over and handed you Alpine and grabbed the two boxes for you instead.
"I'll make another trip, you two should get inside where it's warmer" Bucky looked a little concerned. You went back to the front of the truck and grabbed the coffees in a tray and carried them in one hand, while you had Alpine in the other.
"Did you get food?" Bucky asked worriedly.
"Definitely got food" you quickly nodded. "Wet and dry, I wasn't sure what you like Alpine" you looked at the small kitten.
"I'm just hungry" Alpine gave a soft whine.
"You smell so pretty" you cooed to him, smelling the distinct scent of Bucky's favorite soaps.
"Papa gave me a bath," he responded quickly. "Are you my mama now?"
"If you want me to be," you were a little surprised the small kitten was taking to you both so quickly.
"Alright mama" Alpine started purring again. Wanda used her powers to open the front door and the four of you walked back in.
"I'll see you in a bit" Wanda started making her way to the stairs while you went to your already open suite door and walked in.
"I'm sorry Stevie, I didn't grab you a coffee" you realized you had forgotten to get him one.
"I didn't really want one" he shook his head. "I just finished one not too long ago" he added quickly. You set down the tray of coffees, realizing you still had Wanda's.
"I'll be right back" you grabbed Wanda's, stopping to give Bucky a quick kiss on the cheek.
"Swish that tail girlfriend" Melody called to you and you giggled. You hurried up the stairs and knocked on her door.
"What's wrong?" Wanda giggled, opening the door holding her Zora while Vision was clearly in the middle of unpacking all the bags.
"Coffee" you handed it to her.
"Thank you" she took it quickly and took a sip.
"I'll see you soon" you checked the time on your phone and saw it was only an hour before supper time. You turned to make your way back downstairs when you saw Loki headed in your direction. "Loki!" you said with a little more energy than intended.
"Lady Y/N" he nodded with a faint smile.
"Will you come to have tea with us this evening?" you asked quickly.
"Of course, I would be honored" he smiled fully. "I'll bring some of my special tea if you would like," he offered.
"I have some cream of Earl Grey that you would just love," you assured him. "Just bring yourself," you added with a grin.
"I'll make sure to be there" he nodded, and you made your way back downstairs again.
When you got into the suite Melody was laying on her side with Cloud curled up to her while Steve and Bucky were trying to assemble the cat tree. You quickly went to the bags and took out a few of the dishes and put them on the coffee table for now, then grabbed the cat food and filled one of the dishes, putting Alpine down to eat. He took to the food immediately, and you could hear his poor little stomach grumbling. You grabbed the second dish and went to the small kitchenette and filled it with water and brought it back and set it down for Alpine who took a few grateful sips before going back to his food.
"Mama, can I play with the kitten now?" Blue asked, wagging his tail gently.
"Not yet, let him get used to you first" you whispered to him. You looked over to see Steve and Bucky looked like they were knee deep in trying to assemble the cat tree still, with Steve reading the directions and Bucky following them as he went. You almost felt badly for getting such a big tree, but you wanted Alpine to have the best.
"Doll, can you pass me my coffee?" Bucky asked, looking up at you with a smile on his face. You nodded and passed him his cup and he took a few long drinks from it. You sipped at your frappuccino, petting Alpine as he ate. As soon as he finished the whole bowl you could see his little stomach was swelling, but you refilled it quickly just in case. You then went to put together the new cat box, and put it in the bathroom, and waited for Alpine to finish eating. Once he was for sure done, you picked him up and showed him the box, explaining thats where he was supposed to go to the bathroom. He seemed to take that in stride, and dug at the litter until he was satisfied and he went to pee. You waited for him to finish and you saw Blue standing at the doorway giving a soft whimper. You picked up Alpine with one hand, and went to Blue and picked him up with the other arm and carried them both back to the living room. Alpine crawled up to your shoulder and perched on it, looking down at Blue worriedly who kept whimpering.
"Listen here pup, you are scaring the poor cat" Melody sassed him. "Give him time to get used to us"
"But I want to play," Blue whimpered again.
"You are a lot bigger than me," Alpine finally whispered.
"I can be gentle" Blue rolled onto his back to show his belly. "You're my new little brother" he gave a playful bark.
"Don't forget he is pack now" Cloud reminded him.
"I won't forget Cloud," Blue sighed.
"Why don't you go play with one of your toys" you suggested and Blue gave another soft whimper before jumping down to where Seraphina, Koa and Cedar were playing on the floor. They clearly weren't as interested in the new family member as Blue was. You reached up and gave Alpine a few scratches behind the ears and under his chin and he emitted a loud purr, seeming happy with his new environment.
"You won't throw me away too, will you?" Alpine asked a little hesitantly.
"You're pack now, not to worry" you whispered to him. He crawled down off your shoulders and laid in your lap, taking a small nap seeming content. You brought your attention back to Bucky and Steve as they were almost done putting up the cat tree. Then they were trying to decide where to put it, and eventually settled on the wall close to the window by the kitchenette. Bucky came back to you, grabbing his coffee and quickly finishing it while you finished your drink as well. He sat down beside you and started petting Alpine with a light in his eyes of excitement.
"How is he doing?" Bucky asked you softly as Steve grabbed one of the spare chairs that didn't have bags on it.
"He's going to have trust issues that we are going to just toss him away. I hate people like that" you growled slightly. "Animals should be cherished," you added.
"He will be cherished here" Bucky assured you. You leaned over and gave him a kiss on the cheek and his face lit up again with another one of his signature flirty smiles.
"Are you looking forward to being back in the field again?" you asked in a whisper.
"I know you don't like it, but yes" he nodded. "We both are"
"Yeah, it's been hard being benched," Steve quickly agreed.
"It's nice knowing you both are safe though" you gave a slight pout.
"We will be careful," Steve promised you. "We will be together on all the assignments, so there's two of us against whatever they can bring"
"That's not reassuring" you shook your head.
"They won't even know we are there, more than likely" Bucky leaned over and kissed you on your temple. You leaned into him, and gave a soft sigh.
"Here, take your new son" you picked up Alpine and put him on Bucky's lap who looked almost gleeful at having the kitten back. He quickly started petting him, and Alpine, who woke up for a moment, quickly went back to sleep. "I'll be right back" you stood up.
"Where are you headed doll?" Bucky asked a little worriedly.
"I just had two large drinks, I need to pee" you rolled your eyes at how easily he got worried. He nodded while Steve gave a soft chuckle and you went to the bathroom. Bucky continued to pet Alpine until you came back, and you sat down next to him again. Seraphina went to Steve to get him to pick her up, and he chuckled but did as she requested, peppering her face with kisses.
"I'm glad she's going home with you pal" Bucky grinned.
"Can I take her home for the night?" Steve asked a little hopefully.
"Yes, he can take her for the night. We trust him, and we know we have to get used to it soon" Snow quickly answered.
"Yes, you have Snow's blessing" you nodded and you saw Steve's face light up.
"I bought her a bunch of stuff online already, it's just in my closet. I'll have to dig it out for the night" Steve seemed happy with the new development.
"Don't forget not too many treats before bed" you reminded him.
"I won't. Besides, she deserves to be a little spoiled, don't you girl?" Steve cooed to her. She gave a playful bark and nuzzled into Steve who grinned happily to himself.
"Sunday, I might ask you to babysit for a few hours" Bucky warned him.
"No problem" Steve chuckled and shook his head. "Getting grumpy again?"
"No, I just want some time with my future wife" Bucky kissed your temple again.
