The apology

"Oh this is paradise" you moaned into the face pillow as you laid naked on the massage table. You had barely seen your room for the night before you were whisked away again to the spa. Cloud had been taken separately but you could feel his relaxed state through the bond since he was closer to you. You couldn't see him, but you knew he wasn't far, thankfully. You had Nat to your right and Wanda to your left, separated from you by a white curtain. The scent of lavender filled the air, invading your senses and causing you to be in a far more relaxed state. You couldn't think of anything more relaxing, outside of being with Bucky.
"You said it," Wanda sighed happily. You wondered how Bucky and the pack were doing, but your phone had been taken away almost as soon as you had checked in. Nat and Wanda wanted to make sure you focused on yourself for the day. The masseuse rubbed warm massage oils into your skin, and you inwardly moaned again. You were warned you were headed for a facial, and hair mask next so there would be less to do tomorrow morning before the wedding, and afterwards would be a hot bath and some time in the sauna.
"What's the plan for tomorrow?" you asked softly, wanting at least a couple of details.
"You are sleeping in, and then it's brunch before we have our hair, makeup and nails done. Then we will be taking a few limo's back to the compound. Steve and Happy are coming to get the SUV's sometime tonight after they get back from their bachelor party" Wanda explained and you immediately felt a pang of jealousy, wondering if there were going to be exotic dancers.
"What.. what are they doing for their party?" you stammered slightly.
"They are playing poker and staying at the compound" Nat replied for Wanda.
"No strippers, Tony promised" Pepper called from a little further away.
"Thank goodness" you sighed in relief. You didn't want Bucky to think of another woman dancing exotically for Bucky, or on him for that matter.
"Are we having a party too?" Annette asked while Aunt Melanie tried to shush her.
"Of course, but it will be a surprise," Wanda promised.
You nodded more to yourself, wondering what else was planned but deciding to leave it to Wanda to surprise you. You relaxed into the spa table even more and sighed happily. This truly was paradise, it was just missing your companions and your mate.

Bucky was gritting his teeth. It was bad enough he had to be separated from you for a day, but now he had to spend a day not understanding what the pups were saying. Jasper, Snow and Melody were good at showing him what their needs were, but he still had a hard time reading Blue from time to time, especially since he didn't need a bottle anymore and was fairly self sufficient. He honestly didn't know how he was going to sleep tonight without you there, he was used to having you as a buffer for his nightmares.
"Bucky?" Uncle Brad said his name, grabbing his attention from his own internal thoughts. Bucky looked up curiously and saw several pairs of eyes were on him, and felt suddenly self conscious that his anxiety at the small separation was showing. "Did you want to grab Blue for that apology now?" he asked and Bucky found himself only nodding. Blue had already been sitting at his side, looking a little downtrodden. He knew Blue didn't understand, and likely wasn't enjoying this either. He bent to the side and picked up Blue with his right hand, and the overgrown pup barely made a sound. The rest of the male team members picked up their pups and seemed anxious to see this through. Tony led the way to the lab, with everyone else in tow. The room was a lot more crowded than usual, but Uncle Brad seemed to understand exactly where he needed to sit immediately and he sat in your usual chair and Soren flew to his shoulder. Bucky moved to stand in front of Uncle Brad so he could make sure Tony didn't pull any new tricks.
"Will this hurt?" Uncle Brad asked as Tony fastened the helmet over his head.
"Y/N never said it hurt" Tony assured him, and Bruce turned on the computer.
"So this is the lab, it's so cool" Joseph looked around the room with Kendra at his heels. Austin and Bravo stood beside Uncle Brad, both looking ashamed of themselves. Blue gave a soft whimper and Bucky brought him up closer to his face. The screen for the program they used to listen to the animals' voices came up and suddenly the speakers were all filled with the sound of several voices talking all at once.
"Something must be wrong with my tech" Tony frowned.
"No, that's what it sounds like right now" Uncle Brad shrugged and sat back.
"Papa, where's my mama?" Bucky heard Blue's voice whimpering. "I want mama too."
"She's going for the night little man, it's just us for today" Bucky kissed him on top of the head.
"Dad, I don't want to be with the mean doggy" Zephyr whined to Clint.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said what I said" Bravo grunted as Edwin started barking at him and the speakers screeched slightly with all the noise. Bruce fiddled slightly with the computer and it calmed down slightly.
"You can do better than that," Uncle Brad grunted.
"You're damn right he can do better than that. I told those kids and their companions that they needed to behave themselves" Soren squawked loudly.
"Daddy, I'm scared" Seraphina whined to Steve.
"That was Seraphina" Melody's voice filled the room, and she went to sit at Bucky's side.
"You call me daddy?" Steve cooed to her and kissed her on top of the head. "There's nothing to be scared of my Seraphina" he peppered her muzzle with kisses.
"Where's my mommy?" Edwin barked at Tony.
"She's gone for a girls night. It's just us for tonight kiddo" Tony frowned slightly.
"Back to the apology" Uncle Brad brought everyone back to the subject.
"He said I'm supposed to live outside," Zora whimpered.
"He said we don't belong," Anastasia added with a whine.
"Excuse me?" Bruce asked, feeling affronted, and looking a little green.
"Zora my love, you belong. Mommy and I were so worried you wouldn't sleep in bed last night" Vision cooed to Zora.
"But you don't sleep," she countered quickly.
"But you do, and I want to be there to witness it" Vision spoke softly.
"From the bottom of my heart, I am sorry to all of you pups and companions. You are real companions, and all of you belong with your families. Your mom's and your dad's. Sometimes families are a little bit different, and I just didn't see that at first. You don't belong outside like the other pack lives, you belong inside. You are your human's babies. I misunderstood, and I deeply apologize for misunderstanding" Bravo said, his voice and tone sincere.
"What's misunderstanding mean?" Koa asked softly.
"That was Koa, and it means that they didn't understand," Snow answered.
"So we can live inside too?" Cedar asked.
"That was Cedar, and yes you are supposed to" Jasper gave a small bark.
"I also am sorry, I didn't understand, and I put those thoughts into Bravo's head" Austin admitted. "It's my fault, and I won't make that mistake again. We take back everything that was said."
"So mama and Brutus were telling the truth?" Blue asked and looked up at Bucky.
"Your mama would never lie to you" Bucky vowed. "Neither would Brutus" he added quickly.
"So I can sleep with you tonight papa?" Zora asked Vision.
"Of course my love" Vision kissed her softly on top of the head.
"I'm going to take my pack back to our suite" Bucky cuddled Blue close to his chest.
"And then mommy is coming home?" Blue asked.
"You'll see mommy tomorrow, I promise" Bucky sighed softly.
"But it's so far away" Blue whined.
"Come on pup, Alpine is probably getting lonely without you" Jasper said with a bit of laughter in his tone.
"Do you think so?!" Blue asked excitedly.
"I'll let Nat know the apology was said" Bruce stood up with Anastasia in his arms.
"I miss mommy," she huffed.
"I'll take this off" Uncle Brad pulled the helmet off.
"Thank you for straightening that out" Clint nodded at Uncle Brad, clearly still displeased with the entire situation. Bucky had enough, and led the pack out while Uncle Brad sadly watched him go. Steve knew Bucky wanted his space, but he had no intention of giving that to his best friend. With one hand he texted Sam to meet him at Bucky's place, while the other hand held Seraphina. Steve saw the pack had followed Bucky out of the room, but Snow looked back a few times. Likely still worried about her own children.
"Where are you headed?" Tony asked Steve curiously.
"That jerk is going to go stir crazy without Y/N" Steve said with a grin on his face.
"Are they really that attached?" Joseph asked curiously.
"They are mates, of course," Uncle Brad answered instead of Steve.
"But you and mom were apart for a long time," he said, a little confused.
"Your mom had to do what she had to do. I wasn't in a good headspace. Just make sure you always take good care of your companion, and don't take them for granted. Losing them is like losing half of yourself, and makes you feel broken. Your mom was protecting you kids from seeing me like that. Our love never died or dwindled, and I'm grateful for that everyday" Uncle Brad spoke from the bottom of his heart.
Steve finally followed where his heart was telling him to go, and he made his way to Bucky's suite. He smirked as he walked in, seeing his best friend was sitting down on the couch with an almost downcast look on his face.
"And what do you think you are doing?" Steve asked with a playful grin, while setting down Seraphina beside Melody who was laying on the floor.
"Nothin" Bucky shrugged, still looking a little lost.
"Well you still have your stag party, so you are going to have to buck up Bucky" Steve chuckled at his play on words. Bucky rolled his eyes and crossed his arms as though closed off to the subject.
"Let's get this party started!" Sam came barging into the room and Bucky groaned loudly.
