Tuesday and Wednesday were both the same. You would wake up to hearing Bucky say your name, and you knew it was time for him to get ready for his mission. You both would wish each other the best kind of day and to be safe before you would turn off your phone. You went to take a shower, and then you would take out Cloud for his morning walk before heading to breakfast. You noticed you were getting a heartier appetite, and wondered silently if Melody was getting enough to eat. You texted Wanda to make sure Melody got extra portions at meals, just in case, and she promised to make sure it would happen. She excitedly told you she was looking forward to having tea when you got home on Friday, and told you she was starting to feel stir crazy already. You reassured her that once she was in the lab, she wouldn't have time to feel stir crazy, and to enjoy it.
It was around lunch on Wednesday you started to feel something wrong, deep within your bond. You had an odd twist in your gut that told you something happened. You just didn't know what it was. You could barely focus, it was bothering you so badly.
"Cloud?" you asked him, where he was standing in the corner of the room watching everyone again. "Do you feel that?" you asked, a little worried.
"I feel your apprehension" he gave a soft bark.
"What is it?" Tony asked you, seeing you look a little distressed.
"Something is wrong, Tony" you took out your phone and called Wanda, not wanting to wait for her to text you back.
"Hello sister" Wanda said in a cheery tone, picking up the phone.
"Are the wolves okay?" you asked, your voice slightly hitched.
"Of course, we are just outside since we just had lunch" she giggled and you heard Blue barking playfully in the background. "Are you okay?" she asked, taking on a more serious tone.
"Something's wrong" you huffed slightly. "Thank you Wanda, I love you" you said before hanging up.
"And?" Tony asked and you grimaced.
"The wolves are fine, can you check in with the team?" you asked, the knot in your gut was definitely getting to you.
"They won't answer if they are still on the mission, but I'll reach out" he nodded, and you watched him do just that. It made you feel slightly better, and you went back to trying to help Bruce with the serum, but your heart wasn't in it. Something was terribly wrong, and you needed to know that Bucky was okay. You continued to ask Tony for updates the entire day, but he tirelessly would tell you that there were no updates yet. You noticed he kept checking his phone and grimacing. He also pulled up the trackers in their suits and frowned slightly, before quickly hiding it. He told you vitals were fine, but didn't mention if they were still at the same location. You figured he was trying to keep your anxiety to a minimum.Bucky stood outside of the base with Steve at his side. Clint had gone inside the small, and almost insignificant base with Nat. Bucky spared a glance at Steve with a bored sigh.
"You know, these bases the last few days, something seems off" Bucky pointed out.
"I've noticed that too," Steve quickly agreed. "I've been trying to figure out if there's a data breach, but Tony checked with Fury and said there hasn't seemed to be any"
"Something feels really off today" Bucky looked around suspiciously.
"Widow, Hawkeye, what's your status?" Steve asked through the comms, silently agreeing with Bucky. No sound came back through the comms and both men looked at each other. Steve pulled out his phone and checked their vitals and huffed slightly to himself. "Maybe there's a signal jammer?" Steve looked at Bucky who shrugged.
"Wanda would be good to have right about now" Bucky mumbled. "Not that we should. She's needed back at home" he added quickly.
"Tony's going to need to put in a daycare in the compound" Steve gave a half smirk. "Widow, what's your status?" he asked through the comms again.
"The base looks empty," Bucky pointed out.
"There's no guards," Steve quickly agreed.
"Let's check it out," Bucky decided.
"Your fiance would have my head" Steve shook his head.
"It's going to be fine, we are just checking to see if its signal jammers and we will come right back. I don't like the feels of this place and I want to hurry home. I was going to go grab Blue and Melody and take a drive to Shield headquarters with the truck and bring Y/N some flowers. Maybe spend a few hours with her before I come back to the compound" Bucky started moving forward, taking out one of his guns. Steve rolled his eyes at his best friend's determination and took out his shield and gun to follow him.
The two of them slowly made their way inside and it was eerily quiet in the building. They cleared the rooms as they came to them, but there was no sign of Clint or Natasha as they went through. They got to the data room that they were supposed to have gone in and found the door opened almost too easily. They walked in to see Nat and Clint both passed out on the floor, and tied up. The door suddenly slammed behind them and they heard the sound of gas and looked up to see a white vapor filling the room.
"Shit" Bucky gulped, realizing they had walked into a trap.
"We might be able to withstand it" Steve looked around for a way to stop the gas, moving through the room quickly with Bucky doing the same thing. Both of them heard something akin to a gunshot fill the room twice and Bucky frowned as something hit him in the back of his flesh shoulder. He saw a dart sticking out of Steve's back, but he felt like his body was giving up on him as he fell to his knees quickly.
"Steve" Bucky called out to warn him, but Steve fell to his knees as well. Both of them shared a defeated expression, thinking that they had walked right into one of Hydra's traps. You texted Bucky when you were done supper, but you didn't get a response. You found yourself pacing while outside with Cloud and he just finally sat down and watched you as you went back and forth. You could feel something was wrong, deep in your heart. You hated the feeling, and knew that something was wrong with Bucky. He hadn't responded to any of your text messages, and the nasty gut feeling told you something had happened. You finally went to the drab grey door to go back inside and you slammed it open as though it was offensive to you. You first went to Tony's bedroom and pounded on the door and received no response. You then turned and went to Bruce's door and knocked harshly.
"Y/N?" Bruce came out, still in his jeans and white button up.
"Where's Tony? Something is wrong with my mate" you didn't mince words.
"Did you try reaching out to him?" he asked, not missing a beat.
"He didn't answer me. My Bucky always answers" you clipped your words.
"So does Nat, and I've been trying to get ahold of her too" Bruce frowned. "Come on, let's go to the lab" he started leading the way back to the lab.
When you walked in, Tony was at his workstation with the team's vital trackers up on one screen and the mission docket on the other screen.
"Tony" you started taking long strides towards him. "Where is my Bucky?"
"They aren't at the same location" Tony finally answered you. "I sent out Vision, Loki, Thor, and Scott, but they only confirmed that they aren't at the base they were sent to. They are in the middle of checking this new location"
"How far out are they? None of them would change the location of a base without clearing it first" Bruce looked honestly worried.
"They are still an hour away from it. I looked at it from the satellite footage, and the place looks like a fortress" Tony pulled it up for the two of you to look at.
"Something is wrong with my Bucky, I want in the field" you steeled yourself for a fight.
"We need to confirm they are there first" Tony shook his head.
"That's not good enough" you growled.
"Wait, do we think they were taken?" Bruce asked, starting to look a little green.
"I think it's a safe assumption," Tony nodded.
"I'm going in the field, and you can't tell me no" you didn't need to hear anything else.
"I'm coming with you" Bruce seemed steeled with resolve.
"Give me the coordinates" you demanded.
"Let's just let the team confirm..." Tony started and you slammed your hand down on his desk and he looked at you shocked.
"That is my mate, and I will not take no for an answer" you growled, slightly baring your teeth.
"I'm coming with you" he thought about it for a moment and gave in. "Let's head to the compound and suit up"
"I have everything I need" you said as the flames started dancing off of you.
"Breathe, we are going to go get him, but we need to do it right" Tony reminded you.
"We are going now," Bruce growled.
"Compound first" Tony reminded him, closing up his workstation. The four of you left with Tony giving Fury a quick call that he needed Shield backup and the coordinates of where you were headed.
You got into the jet quickly and sat back after strapping in Cloud who seemed remarkably quiet.
"Do you have something to say?" you asked Cloud through your mind.
"No, we need to protect the Alpha. He won't be happy" Cloud admitted.
"He is my mate" you growled slightly.
"I would do the same thing if it was Melody" he humphed in your mind.
"Sunshine?" Bruce was sitting beside you. You saw he had his hand held out, and you quickly took it, knowing he needed the reassurance as much as you did.
"We are going to get them back Bruce" you reassured him.
"Nat's always so careful" he whispered as the jet started up with Tony flying it.
"It must have been a good trap" you shrugged. "We will get them back, that's our family out there"
