"Be with someone whose voice calms you down."

- lyjerria

Elijah looked out the window, the storm was getting worse and all Elijah could think about was Penelope. He knew she must be terrified, wherever she was. "It's supposed to be a category one," Rose's voice rang through the room. Elijah closed his eyes, fisting his hand tightly. "Or at least just shy of one."

"Of course there would be a hurricane at a time like this," Klaus' voice grated on Elijah's nerves. He hadn't looked or talked to his brother since the other day. He couldn't bring himself too. Just being in the same room with him right now was beginning to get to him and Elijah didn't know how much longer he could be stuck in the same house with him before killing him.

"It wasn't like you are of any help," Elijah spat, watching the illuminated clouds in the sky. The room grew quiet and tense. "You haven't lifted a finger to try and help us find Penelope."

"I've helped," Klaus retorted, rolling his eyes as he sat down.

"No, you've sat there and made snide comments for the past four days," Elijah snapped. "While we've been out, trying everything we could to try and find Penelope, you've done nothing."

"I've been helping... you're not the only one with connections, Elijah."

"Funny, I have yet to see any result from you," Elijah finally turned and glared at Klaus. Klaus refused to meet his gaze, he simply sat on the couch with an ankle resting on his other knee. Thunder crashed and Elijah looked back to the window.

"Penelope is out there somewhere, terrified and alone..." He whispered. "And I'm here inside of a house."

"Elijah there's nothing you can do out there-" Rose spoke up but Elijah shook his head.

"Everyone is indoors due to the storm...it would be the perfect time to-"

"No, it wouldn't. We can't do anything in this storm," Rose cut him off and Elijah turned and glared at her. "I understand you're worried for her and you want her back but we can't do anything in this rain, even if it's only a category one. The winds are still too dangerous for us to be outside." The room grew quiet again and Elijah pushed himself from the window and waltzed out of the room.

"Where's he going?" He heard Rose ask.

"He's going to his and Penelope's bedroom," He heard Kol answer.

Elijah sighed as he closed the door to his and Penelope's bedroom. He took off his suit jacket and placed it on the end of the bed before he went into the closet. He saw one of Penelope's favorite shirts, it was light blue with white daisies all over. He took it off the hanger and brought it to his nose. Closing his eyes, he inhaled deeply and took in her scent before walking back to the bed. Laying on top of the blanket, Elijah moved to lay on his side, facing where Penelope would usually sleep. Elijah closed his eyes and took in her scent again.

Elijah hasn't been able to sleep in four days. As a vampire, he doesn't need to sleep for long, only a few hours here and there a night, some vampires just in general enjoy sleeping. His siblings are those types of vampires. Elijah, however, has always been one to be fine with a few hours of sleep... until Penelope. When she first came to live with them in the mansion, he didn't sleep for long. He spent most of the night holding her, playing with her hair and listening to her heartbeat. He enjoyed just being with her. Soon after, he found he was wanting to sleep a little longer than just two or three hours. He still doesn't sleep as long as she does, but the longer he's been with her, the more he enjoys sleeping beside her. Since she's been missing, he hasn't gotten a minute of sleep. He couldn't sleep and he wasn't going to sleep, not until he had her in his arms again.
