"Missing you comes in waves. Today I'm drowning."

-Unknown

Elijah let out a sigh of frustration as he tossed the needles and the yarn to the side. He needed a drink and a break. He took up Rhiannon's advice and decided to learn a new skill. He decided to try and learn to knit. He was looking for things to put in Penelope's reading room and came across a blanket; a large, bulky, knitted blanket and he knew she would love that and would love to add it to her never ending collection of blankets. However, he realized it was knitted and figured he could make it himself, something he thought Penelope would appreciate. He's now regretting his decision.

Walking out of his room and into the hall, Elijah stopped when he heard both of his brothers voices coming from the mysterious, secret, surprise room. He walked to the room quietly, leaning in to listen to what they were saying.

"What are you doing! Don't move it there!"

"Well where else am I to put it, Nik?"

"Not there! It'll block the painting!"

"Can't you repaint it?!"

"No!"

"What are you two doing?" Elijah asked as he went to open the door but it was quickly slammed shut before he could even look inside.

"Uh....nothing, Elijah. What are you doing?" Kol asked from behind the door.

"I heard you two arguing and I was curious. Since when did you know about the secret room?"

"Uh...since two days ago?" Kol replied unsurely. "I kind of...stumbled upon it while you were out. Nik left it unguarded."

"And I'm still not allowed to know about this secret room?" Elijah asked, annoyed.

"No!" Both brothers replied. Elijah scoffed as he stuffed his hands into the pockets of his trousers as he made his way down stairs and to his study. Pouring himself a drink, he sat at his desk and opened the journal Penelope had gotten him. He wrote in it everyday since he received it, and each entry varied in length. Some entries were very short and frequent throughout the day and those were all dated and time stamped and usually consisted of quick thoughts and ideas he had about her, or for her or them. Or some of them were simply just a way to write out his frustration with Niklaus quickly.

Other entries were more lengthy and went into more detail about his day, his thoughts, and how he felt that day. Then other entries were little letters, or love notes, that he wrote to Penelope and all were at least one page, front and back. There were even some days where he wrote both. Elijah was planning on giving this to Penelope during the honeymoon, he wasn't sure if he was going to gift it at the beginning or wait until before coming home.

My Little Doe,

It's been fifteen, long, days since I've last seen you, since I've last heard your voice. I miss you terribly. I've read your favorite books and while you were right, they are not my, how did you say it? "Usual cup of tea"; I now know why you love and adore them so much. I know we didn't have a chance to go on the release date, but I plan to take you to the theater to see the final film once you return to me.

While you've been away, I've spent more time on the piano and have composed a thing or two that I know you would want to hear because you've mentioned you love to hear me play. I admit, I have missed playing the piano but I find that as I get lost in the music and playing, I also get lost in my thoughts of you. How I wish you were beside me as I played, how I wish I could teach you the keys and watch you purposely mess up just so I could hold your hands. I miss playing the piano, but I miss you being here more.
