" I hope you are free tomorrow, I was planning of having breakfast together."  Teja's phone pinged with the message.

Teja was just thinking about what to reply when the person called her.

"Hi di , I just saw the message." Teja said.

"And what were you going to reply."

"Umm.."

"Teja" Kirti said lovingly knowing how confused Teja must be
"Karan is leaving day after tomorrow, even you will leave after a few weeks, and I am here only till Karan's first match, Sameer has already left. I don't know when we will get the chance of meeting one another again, so I really wanted all of us to have a breakfast together before we all go to our respective places."

Kirti could see Karan being restless, she also knew the reason behind it . Teja and Karan were not in great terms so Kirti wanted to do something to ease up things between them.

Teja was still unsure of what to answer. She knew that she might not be able to meet Karan after this but the thought that Karan might not like her coming to his home was not letting her say anything. So she asked,

"Does Karan know about it."

"Not yet , he is not home yet, but I will inform him after he comes."

Teja stayed quite not knowing what to say.

Kirti understood Teja's dilemma so she assured her, "I am sure that he will not mind you coming over, he will be really happy, and I know it. And don't you to want to wish him luck before he leaves ."

Teja thought for a few minutes and then agreed. She just could not miss the chance of meeting him , maybe the last time.

"I will be there" Teja said

"Great. So tomorrow at 9 , I hope you are fine with that."

"Yeah."

The same day at the dinning table while having the dinner Kirti informed everyone about the breakfast. Karan's mom and dad got really happy but Karan didn't say anything.

Kirti noticed it and went to talk to him after the dinner.

"Karan how long are you going to be like this. You know, that at this point it's looking really childish." Kirti said angrily.

Karan didn't say anything and stood there with a blank face.

Kirti got annoyed with his behaviour and said, "okay then it looks like you are not fine with her coming her , so I will cancel the plan."

"Noo" Karan said instantly. "I mean it won't look nice, cancelling the plan after inviting her. I will manage."

Kirti smirked," No need to manage anything Karan,  I won't cancel the plan but postpone it. I will ask her to come after you leave."

"Dii" Karan cried out, "please don't do this."

"Better. Now call and invite her." Kirti ordered.

"Why, you already did that right"

"I did, but Teja sounded unsure, she asked me if you knew about the plan or not. I'm sure you are being a jerk to her , so better talk to her nicely, or else you will get it from me."

"Di you are my sister not her's." Karan said with disbelief

"And that's why I wish good for you." Kirti said.

"Invite her" Kirti said sternly and left.

Karan shook his head and thought
' As if you didn't knew that your family is more fond of her that you.'

He sighed and called Teja.

"Hi "Teja said softly.

Karan smiled hearing her voice, "hi " he replied.

"Tomorrow morning at 9" Karan said.
"Yeah I know, di called me ".

"Okay then see you tomorrow, good night."

"Good night." Teja said in a low voice and as soon as she said that Karan cut the call abruptly.

Karan knew that he was hurting Teja. Even he was feeling horrible, but this was needed. He was scared that if he didn't do this, he might just say something that will break their friendship forever. If not anything more, their friendship was the thing he really wanted to protect.
' Just stay sane tomorrow '  Karan told himself.

Teja's eyes brimmed with tears as Karan cut the call. She instantly wipped them off and said,

" What's wrong with you Teja, you can't let him affect you so much, and first of all, he didn't even say anything wrong. He is not doing anything less, it's you who wants more, you are at fault for expecting things and not him. "
' Just don't behave like this tomorrow.' Teja warned herself.

The next morning Teja reached Karan's house and Kirti welcomed her. She went inside and saw Karan's dad reading a newspaper and his mom preparing the breakfast in the kitchen. Teja went and greeted both of them.

"Aunty do you need any help." Teja asked.

"No Teju , it's almost done , you go and sit, I will bring the breakfast there ."

"Just call me once it's ready, I will atleast help you in serving." Teja said.

She then sat in the living room where Karan's dad, Kirti and her started talking. After a few minutes Karan's dad left and Kirti suggested to have the breakfast in the balcony.

While they were walking towards the balcony, Teja's eyes were searching for Karan.

Kirti noticed it and asked, "Teja, do you need something."

"Umm..no di. Uncle won't have breakfast with us. "

"He already had it ", Kirti said. She slightly smiled and added, "Karan is getting ready, he will be here soon."

Teja's face turned pink due to embarassment so she looked down at the floor.

After sitting for a few minutes in the balcony chatting with Kirti , Teja saw someone placing the breakfast on the table . Thinking that it must be Karan's mom, Teja instantly tilted her head and said,
"Aunty I told you that I will help...."

Teja stopped suddenly, as it was not Karan's mom but Karan himself who was serving.

Teja and Karan freezed looking at each other with their faces a few centimetres apart.

They kept staring at each other until Kirti cleared her throat and brought them back to reality.

Karan moved back, looked here and there in embarrassment and then took a seat beside Kirti, opposite to Teja.
