"Open the door" Karan whisper yelled from the other side of the phone almost at midnight.

"Are you for real " Teja said with shock and left her room to open the door.

"What made you think that I was not serious this morning. "

Teja opened the door and said "you are unbelievable" with a grin .

Karan stepped in the house and hugged her , this time lifting her up from the ground and spining her.
Teja held on tighter to his shoulders , being scared of falling down, but then the lights of the living room turned on.

Karan instantly stopped spinning and carefully helped Teja to get back on her feet.

For the first few seconds they blanked out out of fear. Then Karan went and touched Teja's mother feet to take her blessings.

"Teja didn't tell me that you were coming." Her mother said trying to hide her surprise.

"Because she didn't knew either. I surprised her." Karan said a bit nervous and awkward.

To ease out the mood Teja's mother just chuckled and said, "you surprised me too . Anyways, come sit I will make dinner for you."

"Aunty thanks a lot, but I had my dinner already."

"Umm.. okay then you both talk ,  I will take a leave. See you tomorrow." Saying this Teja's mother turned to leave.

Karan looked at Teja who seemed a bit uneasy. Karan felt weird too because due to some reason their was a lack of comfort between him and Teja's mother.
Their was immense respect from both the ends but they lacked a bond, which was totally different from the relationship Teja shared with his mother.

So Karan took it upon himself and said, "Aunty if you don't mind, will you like to join us for a cup of coffee. "

Both Teja and her mother weren't expecting Karan to say any such thing. They shared a look and then her mother replied. "No it's fine, I do not want to disturb you both."

"Oh don't worry, you will not . Please, just a cup of coffee. "

Teja's mother again looked at Teja who this time smiled and nodded asking her mother to join them.

As her mother agreed, Teja went to make coffee while Karan and her mother sat in the balcony talking.

"... then I took retirement."

"Oh, but I remember Teja telling me that you do work somewhere."

" I do. I work with an NGO now. We work for the betterment of young girls, women and mothers who where abandoned by their families or have faced violence and assault. "

"That's commendable. Teja always talks about how strong you stood for them and truly your strength is admirable.
And to be honest it shows in Teja . She is the way she is only because she is raised by you . Thank you for raising her so well that I just couldn't help but fall for her." Karan said with a slight blush.

"You are a well raised man yourself Karan and I'm so happy that you two found each other. "

"I thank God for it everyday. "

"What ? What are you both taking about ?" Teja asked as she joined them in the balcony with three cups of coffee.

"Karan was saying.." Teja's mother said but got interrupted by Karan.

"Why should we tell you ? It's between me and aunty, you can stay out of it. " Karan said with an eye roll.

Teja glared at him and said, "What did you say ?"

Karan became a little weak but still said, "The same what you heard. It is my revenge."
