Ans: Because they don't want to do it.
For Karan, he thinks that Teja is not at all interested in dating someone. Once he confesses he thinks that Teja will reject him and even their friendship won't be the same.
For Teja , she thinks that Karan liking her or them dating each other is so good to be true, she is also in a bit of denial. And the most important thing, her plan of doing an arrange marriage.

I know the story feels dragged , but I can't change anything in it. As I said earlier this story has been there with me since years, it's just that I'm penning it right now ( which is a tough job for me :-) )
