Everyone sat down to have their dinner when karan's phone buzzed . It was his mom.

"When are you coming back home beta" his mom asked as soon as he picked up the call.

"Today mom."

"Are you sure."

He giggled , "Yes , today for sure. We will have tomorrow's breakfast together."

"Okay , so what should I make for breakfast then."

"Anything that you like mom. "

"Okay." His mom said in a low voice. It had been now months that she saw her son so she was missing him a lot.

She then asked the most important question, which she was dying to ask.
"Karan...did you have your dinner."

"Yes I am having it right now, at your favourite person's house." He said and kept his call on speaker.

"Huh......you are at Teja's house." His mom said a bit unsure because she noticed that things were not as great as they used to be between her son and Teja.

"Correct", he said and looked at Teja. She was smiling and a bit emotional too.

She was hearing the voice of the woman who treated her like her own daughter, after months. And the fact that she was still the favourite one was overwhelming.

"Aunty should I be offended by this" Ruturaj said.
Everyone laughed .

"Hi aunty." Teja finally said and Karan passed her the phone

"Hi beta . How are you . "

"I'm good and I hope that you and uncle are doing well too."

"We are, and we are missing you a lot. I even thought of calling you but I didn't have your number. I tried taking your number from Karan but I think you were having a fight that time, so I thought it won't be nice to call you then "

"You can call me when ever you want, my equation with your son will never...ever affect our bond. And I missed you and uncle too, and I am so sorry that I didn't try to reach out to you. I should have done that."

"No problem beta. We can exchange our numbers now."

"Yes."

"Okay then you guys have your dinner, bye."

"Bye aunty."

"Bye mom" Karan said and cut the call.

Teja's family sat there all this while seeing their daughter being so close to someone who were not family
Though they didn't have any problem with it , but it was new for them. They never saw her like that with outsiders.

Only if they knew that  Karan and his family were not outsiders for her , they were her extended family.
The dinner got over with some more talks and then it was time for them to leave.

Karan had his flight and Ruturaj and Sayli were going to drop him .

He touched Teja's mom feet and said, "thank you aunty for the dinner, it was lovely meeting you."

"Same here, God bless you."

It was time when he had to leave, but he wanted to spend some more time with Teja. They hardly got any time to themselves and he wanted to spend atleast a few minutes with her before leaving.

Teja had the same thought going in her head, but she couldn't think of any way to spend time with Karan.
Karan saw her face and knew that even she wanted to talk to him .

"Umm ... can I use the washroom." He said .

"Yes , let me show you the way" Teja said instantly.

"I will" Tarun said soon after, "I will show him the way, follow me" he continued.

And Karan with no option left followed him.

After they returned, Tarun and Karan saw Ruturaj convincing Teja's mom for something.

"Aunty we will drop her home don't worry."

As Teja's mom got ready to allow Teja to go to the airport to drop Karan, tarun again interrupted, "that will be very inconvenient for you Ruturaj. And don't mind me, but Karan is just going to another city, not another country that...."

"Bhai" Teja said  frustrated.
"What's wrong with you" she then slowly whispered.

"What, I'm just being logical ." Tarun replied.

"Yes, he is absolutely correct, there's no need of you coming to the airport, I even told Rutu that I could go on my own but he is not going to listen, but you stay , it's already very late ." Karan said to Teja.

Teja just nodded in response.

"Okay then I will take a leave bye ." Karan said and left the house.

Sayli and Ruturaj followed and so did Teja.

"Where are you going" Tarun asked.

"I can atleast see him off till the parking right, or even that is illogical to you," Teja said in a polite tone but it clearly showed that she was angry by the way her brother was behaving.

This time Niti did not let tarun say anything and herself said, "Ofcourse you can go Teju." And the four left.

In the parking sayli and Ruturaj went to get their car while Teja and Karan decided to walk till the exit to spend their quality time which they didn't get the entire day.

In between their walk Teja held karan's arm and leaned on him and Karan embraced her.

"It was lovely meeting your family" he said.

"Did you like them ?"

"Ofcourse I did. Specially your brother, he is so kind." He said sarcastically

She slowly hit him on his chest which made him chuckle.

"He is a good man. It's just that the brother in him is very protective ." She defended.

"I know it doctor prakash. I have a sister too."

They reached the exit and waited for the car in silence.

Silence so peaceful that you won't even make a single noise to disturb it.
Warmth so comfortable that you don't want to move away even after the humid weather of Mumbai.

"You are leaving" she softly said.
It made her sad ,the fact that he was leaving and they didn't know when they will get meet again.

"I will never leave." He said, his eyes not meeting her but a voice that screamed that he meant what he said.

She blushed.

"I know. I said it regarding the distance between us."

He moved her infront to face him.

"We will always be close." He said.

I have lost the flow of writing..

But I will complete this story anyhow 💪🏻..

Also wondering if I will get to see some old readers or not..
I mean it's been a long since I last updated so I will completely understand if no one reads it..
