"Stop shaking your legs, it's just a dinner." Rutu said giving Karan a side eye .

"I can't help it" Karan said and continued shaking his legs in the lift which was leading them to Teja's house.

Rutu let out an irritated sigh.
"It's normal Rutu, it is his first time meeting his girlfriend's family. You were even more scared when you meet my family." Sayli said .

Rutu got offended and defended himself," Yes maybe I was scared but that was an official meeting. Your parents knew that I was your boyfriend, but Teja's parents don't. They are going to treat him the same way they will treat her normal friends."

'But still he will not want to leave any bad impression."

"What wrong can he even do which will leave a negative impression anyway."

"That's not the point.."

"Guys we reached" Karan interrupted their argument which seemed to have no end and moved out of the lift.

Ruturaj and sayli left behind him.

Karan's hand slightly shivered before he could ring the doorbell which got both his friends laughing.

"Let me do it" Ruturaj managed to say between his laughs, but before he could ring the doorbell the door opened, and there she was ,looking as nervous as Karan if not more.

With her signature small smile she welcomed everyone in.

For Karan even though Teja's smile made his heart beat a bit more faster but more importantly it calmed him down, gave him the courage and trust that everything will fall in place.

This is what she was to him, the bright sun inbetween the dark clouds, his solace, his peace, his strength, his best friend, his girlfriend , his love, his life.

And his eyes could never hid his feelings and today they were failing even more miserably.

"I think you should consider blinking your eyes for once" Ruturaj slowly whispered in his ears as they walked in.

"Yeah" Karan said and cleared his throat and asked Teja, "how did you know that we were outside "

"I heard you guys laughing."

"Kaan darwaje pe laga ke hi bethi thi kya" Ruturaj teased.

"Absolutely" Teja's bhabhi replied. "She was eagerly waiting for you all."

"No I was not. It's just that I was near the door as it was about time and I know they are prety punctual." Teja defended herself.

'Anyways guys meet my bhabhi, and bhabhi you already know them."

"Even I knew bhabhi already, you've told me a lot about your family." Karan said without giving it a second thought.

"Yeah I did" Teja said awkwardly not knowing what will her bhabhi think about it.

"Yes she always talks about you all. That's why it doesn't even feel like we are meeting you for the first time." Sayli said with a bright smile.

"I totally believe that" Niti said "Why are you all standing, please take a seat" she continued "till then I will call Tarun and Mom and Teju , coffee."

"No need it's anyways almost dinner time ." Sayli said.

"Okay as you wish" Niti said and left.

Sayli and Ruturaj got seated on one of the couches while Karan and Teja sat opposite to each other.

"Your place is beautiful" Sayli complemented.

"Tank you, it's all done by my mom."

"You should have seen her house in Bengaluru , it was equally good." Karan said .

"Ohh! You have been to her house" Tarun said while entering the living room.

Karan instinctively stood up and managed to say a yes in a low voice.

Seeing the tension and awkwardness increase Teja decided to step in.
"Yes he did along with kirti di , his sister and his jiju . I guess I told you about it ."

"No you didn't "

"She told me. I even talked to his mom that day . You were out for work ." Teja's mom said with a small smile, showing from where did Teja get her preety smile from.

Again Karan just instinctively went ahead and touched Teja's mom's feet.
As it happened Tarun looked at Karan suspiciously.

Ruturaj noticed it so even he went and touched her mom's feet, and seeing it sayli followed.

They all then settled themselves and talked about some normal stuff. Health, career, weather, family were the few topics.

In between all of it Teja's mom said , "Karan, I wanted to say something from a long time. "

This got everyone's attention. Karan looked at Teja as if asking if she knew anything about what her mom was talking about but she shrugged her shoulder indicating that even she knew nothing.

"Karan you know, Teja has been that person for which everyone is really protective. She lived in a hostel earlier but this was the first time she was living in a city all by her own and that too in a completely new city . We do not have any acquaintance  there, so to be honest I was not happy with her decision of interning that far.
But then the way you and your family took care of her , it really reduced my worry a lot. I am really thankful to you and your family for looking out for my daughter."

"Aunty you don't have to be. Why will we not look out for her , she is my gi....umm... friend. A really good one." He smiled at Teja. "And I am sure she might have only told you about what we did and conveniently forgot about what she did for me .
And I thank you for not stopping her from coming to Bengaluru, otherwise I would have missed out of a really good friend."

"I'm hungry" Tarun said.
He was listening to the conversation for long and he didn't like it one bit. He could easily sence it, the way Karan spoke about his sister was not how any normal friend would. It sounded a bit romantic.

"I'm hungry" he repeated as everyone present there looked at him blankly.

"Yes the food is ready. I will serve it" Niti said and left. Teja followed.

In the kitchen while helping her bhabhi Teja asked her, "is Bhai alright, why is he behaving so cold. "

"He was fine before, I don't know what happened so suddenly." Her bhabhi said, "Anyways, your friend is really good looking, he looks better in real than in tv or photos."

"Who? Ruturaj. Yeah he is good. Him and sayali look so good together."

"Yes , he also looks good, but I was talking about Karan and you will look good with him" Niti said, and left.

Saying Teja was shocked would be an understatement. ' Why will bhabhi say this all of a sudden ' she thought being terrified .

Keeping all this aside she went to the dinning room and served the dinner.
