You say that you're sorry,
I feel nothing,
I know you better than you think,
I know the script by heart,
You say that you didn't mean it,
I feel only pity,
I know that you think what you think,
I know that that didn't matter in the end,
You say that it wasn't your fault,
I feel anger so sudden,
I know that I must drop that weight,
I know the rage might just consume me,
You say that you tried your best,
I feel as though that might be true,
I know, though, that its just a pipe dream,
I know how it affected me,
And though you think you know me,
And though you think it can be brushed it aside,
I've learned to allow myself to leave that place,
I've learned living in resentment is eating the poison,
All in the hopes it will be the other person's undoing.
