A winter by the fire, warm and welcome, we huddle up close,
To prepare for spring, as summer comes around,
A day to live, remember to the fullest,
Of birds flying high above this lost, lonely town,
An autumn of loss, as leaves and hearts fall before,
As the cold sets in once more, all things come to an end,
It happens each year, as light and dark cross paths again,
As the days grow longer, with grass and flowers to tend,
And then to shorter moments, breath icy and cold,
As the trees become barren and bare,
And animals flee to their summer homes far away,
As I sit by the pond, across the empty water all I can do is wait and stare,
Until each swan returns, from flower to flower, the bees fly,
When spring arrives to greet me, with my happiness it brings wrapped in a bow tie.
