3. The Longest Wait Ever

All the questions that jasmine had proposed before shehnaaz appeared to be right. All these queries did not arise in her mind. The only thing that had made its home in her head was the money that she would be getting in return for the surrogacy. However, she did not want to stress over the misery and humiliation that she would have to go through in order to fulfil the financial demands of her family and get them out of the crisis.

Jasmine , you know me and know the fact that I do not like to travel much and I don't need to. Moreover, it is our last semester, and by the time the date of delivery approaches, we might have completed our degree. So eventually, this means that I won't have to face anybody in college with the baby bump. "But shehnaaz , are you even aware of the complications that are involved in a pregnancy? This is the most crucial time for a woman. You would have to pay for regular visits to a gynecologist. You would have to go through numerous tests and endure all the complications. On top of that, you would have to deliver the baby and hand it over to somebody else. A surrogacy contract includes a clause stating that the surrogate mother and the child will never cross parts in the future.How would you do it? This isn't easy, and it appears to be. Shehnaaz , why don't you understand? " Jasmine tried her best to explain things to shehnaaz and convince her to rethink her decision.

"I do understand your point, but this really is a big deal for me, jasmine. And I would have to endure pain if I got such an offer. Nothing comes easily in life. And as far as giving the baby to somebody else is concerned, I do not want to have a child at this age. I would like to keep it thoroughly professional and it would not have to do with my personal life. Moreover, I don't think it is going to be that difficult for me. I can surely pull it off. From the very first day of the pregnancy, I would make it clear in my head that I have to give this baby to somebody else and I do not possess any right over it, "shehnaaz expressed.

But have you given thought to what would happen in your personal life after you deliver somebody else's baby? Do you really think any guy would come up with a marriage proposal to you after knowing that you had been a surrogate mother once in your life? Would any guy accept you as his wife after the surrogacy? " Jasmine blurted out, using the typical methods of blackmailing.

Shehnaaz smiled at her friend's orthodox reasoning and replied, "jasmine , the fancy words like love, affection, finding the perfect guy, and marriage do not exist in the dictionary of my life. If I go ahead with this decision, I cannot think of ever marrying anybody. And as of now, my only priority is my family and nothing else. "

Shehnaaz did not want to argue any further with her friend. She was unable to persuade jasmine as to why she had enrolled in the surrogacy procedure.She failed to let her friend understand why surrogacy was so important to her.

Jasmine , I feel... You are right. Being a surrogate mother is indeed the most complicated job that I was going to sign up for. I will call the receptionist of the fertility centre tomorrow and withdraw my application, "she said.
