31. The Good News

Shehnaaz was in Dr. Swati 's cabin. Because she was feeling unwell, Shehnaaz had come to the fertility clinic. Dr. Swati conducted a pregnancy test, and the test turned out to be positive. The doctor was giving her instructions about how she should be handling herself during her pregnancy. While Shehnaaz was busy trying to process everything and listening carefully to the instructions, her phone rang. When she looked at the screen, Shehnaaz realised it was Sidharth . She immediately picked up the call. Her eyes were still filled with tears, and due to the continuous sobbing, her voice had become heavy. She picked up the call and, in a very timid voice, Shehnaaz addressed him, "Hello... Sidharth ."

Her changed voice became a matter of concern for Sidharth immediately.

"Shehnaaz , what happened? Are you al- right? Why are you crying, Shehnaaz ?" He inquired.

Shehnaaz wiped off her tears and answered him back,
"Nothing... Umm... I'm fine."

"If you are fine, then why did you cry?" He questioned.

Shehnaaz modulated her voice to its normal tone and responded,
"It's nothing, Sidharth .Trust me."

There was an essence of nervousness in his voice when Sidharth made. his statement further,
"I saw that you had called me before. I am sorry that I could not respond to your calls. I was a little busy, and then I stumbled upon your message that you were going to see Dr. Swati. What happened to you, Shehnaaz ? Is everything fine? Why did you decide to visit the fertility clinic all of a sudden?"

"Nothing major has happened, Sidharth . And you do need to worry about it. I am completely fine, " Shehnaaz replied.

Shehnaaz could not give him the news of the pregnancy over the phone call. She was reluctant to say anything.

Okay, where are you? "Tell me..."
Sidharth asked.

"Umm... I am still at the clinic. Had I not mentioned that in the message?" Shehnaaz answered coldly.

This answer from Shehnaaz kind of enraged him.

But Shehnaaz , you just informed me that you are fine. Then how could you still be at the clinic?" He was questioned with anger.

"Yes, I am fine. There is nothing to worry about. Actually, I was feeling a bit unwell and hence thought of visiting and talking to Swati and getting myself examined. " Shehnaaz replied.

"Okay, hang on... I'll be there soon, "
Sidharth said.

Shehnaaz immediately responded, "No, Sidharth , it's not really necessary. Actually, I think.." Sidharth did not care to listen to her any further and disconnected the call.

Shehnaaz fumed with anger at this strange behaviour of his. She made a face while she put her phone in her bag. Jasmine and Dr. Swati were glancing at her all the while. Dr. Swati questioned her,
"What happened, Shehnaaz? Is there anything to worry about?"

Shehnaaz nodded her head in denial. "No doctor, there's nothing of that sort. Sidharth had called. He's coming to the clinic in a while, " Shehnaaz informed her.

Swati smiled at her and replied,
"Oh, that's great news."

Shehnaaz attempted to smile but could not succeed. Before Dr. Swati could utter a word, there was a knock at the door. Swati responded, "yes... Please come in."

Both Shehnaaz and Jasmine turned around to move their faces towards the door to see who it was. The door opened slowly, and Sidharth made his way inside the room. Shehnaaz and Jasmine were stunned, their mouths agape. They were surprised to see Sidharth standing before them. Jasmine was surprised because she had seen Sidharth for the very first time. And Shehnaaz was stunned to realise how he came to the clinic within a short span of time.
