Sidharth had called Shehnaaz to let her know that she would have to come to the Hotel Empire. He wanted her to see the surrogacy contract so that the procedure could be commenced further. He offered to come to her hostel and pick her up, but Shehnaaz declined. She didn't want him to be recognised by other people around him. After he disconnected the call, Shehnaaz put her phone aside and placed the pillow behind her back, resting her back on it.
She was thinking about the contract.
I had completely forgotten about the contract. 'It slipped my mind that I would have to sign the contract before the surrogacy,' she mumbled.
Shehnaaz closed her eyes and recalled all the clauses that she had read in the contract that she had drafted in her office. She had read the contract multiple times and had even memorised all the clauses enclosed within. The contract had just one clause in favour of the surrogate. All the other clauses were in favour of the other party who had hired the surrogate. The only clause in favour of the surrogate was the clause where the amount was mentioned. The contract comprised clauses like the surrogate having to hand over the baby to the other party after delivery. She could not remain in touch with the baby ever again and so on.
Shehnaaz thought that the con- tract that sidharth had called her to sign would be no different. However, she did not think of taking away or snatching the baby away from Sidharth.
Shehnaaz placed both her palms on her head and wondered, "oh God I would have to meet that arrogant man again. Meeting him once a day was fine but I cannot go through it all again. He should have made me sign the con- tract in the morning itself. Now I would have to bear his senseless rants. He does not even know how to initiate a proper conversation with courtesy and politeness. And oh my god his habit of exaggerating even the tiniest details."
With the same thought, shehnaaz got off of her bed and drew out a dress from her Chester drawer to get ready. She was compelled to wake up in the middle of her sleep, and henceforth, she was still feeling drowsy. She did not want to go but went out to meet Sidharth unwillingly.
She wanted to make sure of not getting late and reaching the hotel Empire on time. She had opted for a blueprinted knee-length dress and kept her hair tied in a bun. She loved to keep it simple.
While she was walking to the circle to take the bus to the hotel, Shehnaaz called Jasmine to inform her about her meeting with Sidharth.
She had placed the phone over her ear and was walking towards the circle when she saw Jasmine coming from the other side of the road. Shehnaaz smiled at her and disconnected the call. Both of them walked towards each other to meet at a certain point. Jasmine was coming back to the hostel from college.
"Where are you going, Shehnaaz?" She questioned, "Didn't you tell me that you were tired and wanted to take some rest?
"Yes...Sidharth Shukla has called me. He wanted me to sign the contract and had asked me to meet him for the same, "Shehnaaz explained.
Jasmine was worried about her friend. "Oh," she inquired. "So you're finally going to sign the contract. But please, Shehnaaz ... Reconsider your decision. "
Jasmine was concerned about her best friend. It was a tough decision to make, after all. This particular decision could shape her life further.
Jasmine refrained from saying anything further. "No Jasmine , I don't have time to think over it or change my decision. I have come a long way. And all my reports have come back normal too. And the process of surrogacy would commence in the next two days. Sidharth wanted me to sign the contract before the beginning of the surrogacy procedure."
