37. The Act of Forgiveness

Shehnaaz was in the hall writing her test. Shehnaaz knew the answers to most of the questions, so she managed to finish her test before the scheduled time She revised her answer sheet twice just to make sure that she had not left any questions unanswered.

As she was done with her paper, Shehnaaz gazed around and found that the other students were writing their tests with concentration.

In the other room, jasmine was also engrossed in writing her test. This made Shehnaaz a little worried. She wondered if. she had completed her test correctly or not. Shehnaaz checked her answers to see if she had missed out on a question or two. However, she realised that she had attempted all the questions and that the test went way better than she had expected. She was looking around in the class when her gaze stumbled upon Asim , who was writing his paper like the other students. Shehnaaz felt guilty when she looked at him.

'I think I overreacted early in the morning while we were revising for the test. Asim doesn't seem to be a bad guy who would deliberately behave absurdly. He has never tried to do or say anything that would have caused any problem for me. We have been together for the past month, but he has never misbehaved. It might have happened by mistake. It was so stupid of me to exaggerate the matter in haste. How humiliating it must have been for Asim when I vented my rage on him in front of all the students. never mind, I will apologise to him after the test, ' Shehnaaz thought to herself.

A few minutes later, the bell rang, indicating that the test was over. All the students submitted their papers to the professor and walked out of the class talking to each other. They were discussing the paper. Jasmine had also come to Shehnaaz from her room after the test got over. She stood near Shehnaaz and questioned her, "How was your exam going ? I don't need to ask you this question though, because I already know the answer. Our Miss Topper would once again ace the tests like she does every time. Am I right, Shehnaaz ?"

Shehnaaz glanced at Jasmine and smiled at her, "Oh, there's nothing like that, Jasmine . You know, I could not prepare much for the tests. But still, the paper went well. Considering my preparation for the test, I didn't expect that I would be able to get good grades, but it all went well. Okay, tell me, how was yours?"

"Mine was good. It went as I had expected it to be. Moreover, you can't expect an outstanding performance in test from a girl who is supposed to get
married next month, "Jasmine stated, winking her eyes.

Shehnaaz burst into laughter and glanced at jasmine . "Oh yeah, you're a right babe. You know what, the administra tion should make you pass the exam just for the fact that you have written the paper, even if you're about to get married next month. Hahahaha."

Yeah, that's exactly what I was saying, dude. But unfortunately, nobody understands me better than you, girl,"Jasmine giggled.

Shehnaaz and Jasmine were feeling refreshed and relaxed. After all, their tests were over, and they were no longer worried about their academics. They were immersed in their chats and gossip when Asim passed by them.

Jasmine noticed him and called out. "Hey Asim , how was your test?"

He stopped and glanced at Jasmine .

"Oh, Hey... Yeah, it was good, "he answered and did not say anything further. He made his way out of their sight.

He looked gloomy and upset. It appared as if Shehnaaz's words had harshly affected his state of mind. Shehnaaz felt even more guilty, knowing that she was the reason behind it.

She stole a glance at Jasmine , and in response, Jasmine shrugged her shoulders and expressed, "Asim looked quite upset." Shehnaaz thought for some time and got up from her seat.
