Shehnaaz and Sidharth were at the shopping mall. They had just taken a few steps ahead when a girl approached Sidharth out of nowhere and embraced him in her arms suddenly.
Shehnaaz stood there clueless and wondered who this mystery girl was.
Observing her, Shehnaaz could figure out from her appearance that she belonged to an affluent background. Her black short dress was eye-catching, and so was her designer handbag. She flaunted her golden-blond hair, which was half curled and fell down around her shoulder. Shehnaaz wondered who this girl was.
Shehnaaz could notice that even Sidharth was uncomfortable with the girl coming out of nowhere and embracing him. He was rather surprised. After a few seconds, the girl detached herself from the hug. Shehnaaz noticed her heavy make-up, designer glasses, and matching stilettos. She was nothing less than a fashion model. She put her glasses over her head and spoke in her distinctive accent. "Hey, handsome... Do you remember me?"
For a moment, a thought crossed Amber's mind. She wondered if this was the same girl Sidharth had married five years before. Shehnaaz grew impatient but held her breath and glanced at Sidharth. She was waiting for him to react. She assumed that he would get mad at her and vent his anger. But what happened was the opposite of what Shehnaaz thought. His lips curled into a smile, and he greeted the girl with warmth. "Oh my God... Maya, When did you come back to Chicago? You were in New York, right?"
"Yeah, I came to Chicago last week. What's going on at your end, Sidharth?How's your life going? Ah, by the way, I heard that you have become a business hotshot now. I also heard you now own a chain of hotels and restaurants in various places in Chicago and other states. Wow.. that's huge man, " Maya exclaimed.
"Yeah, you heard it right. Anyway, tell me... How's everything at your firm? And how is Harry?" Sidharth inquired modestly.
"Oh... Harry and I are no longer together. We broke up recently. And don't even ask about my work. I am just so busy. My trip to Chicago is for business purposes only. I came here to launch my new range of beauty products, " Maya made a face and announced.
Sidharth was impressed with her.
"That's great," he said, praising
Shehnaaz chose to remain silent and listened to the conversation that took place before her. She understood that this was not the same girl to whom Sidharth was about to get married. She observed that Sidharth didn't get upset after meeting her, rather he looked happy. However, her question remained unanswered 'who was this girl?'
Maya noticed Shehnaaz standing beside Sidharth. She was pretending that Shehnaaz didn't exist for her, but now behaved as if she had just seen her. Shehnaaz was wearing an easy-breezy outfit. According to Maya , Shehnaaz seemed quite underdressed. She glanced at her weirdly before inquiring about Shehnaaz,"Sidharth , who is she?"
Sidharth realised that he had forgotten to introduce Shehnaaz to Maya .
She is Shehnaaz , my... umm... my friend. And Shehnaaz , she's Maya. She is my childhood friend, "he said with a smile.
