Shehnaaz had received Sidharth's call almost 4 days after it. Shehnaaz immediately picked up the call and answered, "Hello, Sidharth. Thank God, you called me. I have been waiting for your call for so long. Actually, I wanted to say that..." She could not speak any further because Sidharth wouldn't let her finish.
He interrupted, "Shehnaaz , I have called to remind you that we have an appointment with the doctor today in the evening. I would come home at 4 in the evening and pick you up. Be ready,"
Sidharth disconnected the call immediately after he informed Shehnaaz.
After hanging up on her, Sidharth was staring at the screen of his phone. He had listened to Shehnaaz's voice after four long days. It pricked him to the core of his heart when he was behaving rudely with Shehnaaz. He was even aware of the fact that Shehnaaz would not like him talking to her that way. But he had made up his mind to maintain a distance from Shehnaaz.
It was necessary for him to do so. The truth was that he had grown fond of her and it was difficult for him to stay away from Shehnaaz.
"I would not be able to bear the loss if Shehnaaz left me and went away. It would be better for both of us if I maintained a distance from Shehnaaz. After four days, I will be meeting her tonight in the evening. I would have to control myself and make sure that Shehnaaz does not know about the feelings that I have developed in my heart for her," he mumbled to himself.
At the apartment, Shehnaaz was also restless since Sidharth had hung up on her. She was anxious about why Sidharth spoke to her rudely. She was fuming with anger. "He didn't even talk to me nicely despite calling me after so many days. I was surprised and delighted when I saw his name flashing on my phone's screen. I thought his anger might have been pacified by now. But well, he's still upset with me. He is an arrogant man, after all. How much longer can he pretend to be a nice and friendly guy?He has returned to his usual arrogant self. It's OK if he does not want to talk to me. I don't give a damn. I am not in the mood to talk to him either," Shehnaaz thought and sulked.
The clock was about to strike 4. Shehnaaz had gotten dressed and was waiting for Sidharth to come. Shehnaaz was determined that she would not utter a single word when she met Sidharth. But her heart was pounding hard while she was waiting for him. She had not seen Sidharth for four days, but time seemed to have ceased and made it even worse for her. Shehnaaz had never made an effort to look beautiful. Neither did she apply makeup nor did she wear fancy clothes. But today, she got ready with a little makeup and wore an adorable dress. She had opted for a lilac-colored dress and styled her hair strands in a different way. Usually, she used to tie her hair in a bun, but today she left it to fall loosely. She looked more beautiful than ever, as she had applied a little makeup.
For the first time in her life, Shehnaaz was staring at herself standing before the mirror. It was the first time that Shehnaaz found herself to be the prettiest girl. She had never thought of herself that way. She took one last glance at the mirror and came out of her room. She was sitting on the couch in the living room and looked up at the wall clock. It was five minutes to four, and there was no trace of Sidharth. However, this time waiting for him did not anger Shehnaaz. She was eagerly waiting for Sidharth to come home. She could not understand this feeling. It was the first time in her life that her heart and mind were not in sync. Her brain was infuriated at Sidharth, but her heart was eagerly waiting for him to come home so that she could behold him in her eyes after a long wait of four days. Her heart was not abiding by her brain, and the brain didn't want to listen to her heart. She was experiencing both of the feelings at once.
It was 4.30 in the evening when Sidharth came home. The moment Shehnaaz saw him, she stood up from the couch and glanced at him. She assumed that Sidharth might have been so busy with work all these days that he didn't get enough time to trim his beard.
However, he looked as handsome and charming as ever, even with the beard. His face clearly reflected that he was exhausted and had not gotten a good night's sleep.
Shehnaaz got worried seeing him like that. She took a few steps towards him and greeted, "Hey Sidharth, how have you been?"
Sidharth slipped his hands into his pocket and replied to her, "I am fine. I think we should go now. Otherwise, we might be late."
Sidharth was still behaving rudely towards her.
Saying this, he turned around and moved towards the door. Shehnaaz followed his lead. She had been staring at Sidharth continuously since he had come to the apartment. But he had not even stolen a glance at her. Shehnaaz was clearly not appreciative of this behaviour put up by Sidharth... Shehnaaz and Sidharth got inside the car to head towards Dr. Swati's clinic.
While she was in the car, Shehnaaz once again glanced at Sidharth. His innocent face didn't look adorable anymore. He seemed to be an arrogant man who might yell if you dared to ask him anything.
"Am I responsible for his state of being? You can't be that emotional, Mr. Arrogant Shukla . He would have spoken to me once if I were the reason for his worries. But he didn't even glance at me. I am sure that the stress is related to his work. But he should not overburden himself with work that could affect his sanity. What has he done to himself?" Shehnaaz mumbled to herself.
Shehnaaz shifted her gaze towards the window. While driving, Sidharth had arrived at a signal. He had to stop the car as the lights turned red. Sidharth slowly looked at Shehnaaz and observed that she was looking different from her usual self. Despite the fact that the distinction was lovely. In fact, she looked gorgeous.
It was painful for Sidharth to behave rudely towards Shehnaaz.
"No punishment in the world can be greater than the separation between two people who admire each other. I cannot explain how difficult it is for me to maintain a distance from Shehnaaz while she is sitting beside me." Sidharth thought to himself, "I wish I could confess my feelings to her and tell Shehnaaz that I want to spend the rest of my life with her."
Sidharth was lost in his thoughts and did not realise that the light had turned green and he should now drive ahead. The vehicles that were waiting behind him started honking, and the noise brought him back to reality.
Sidharth instantly resumed driving, and after a few minutes, they reached the clinic. Both Sidharth and Shehnaaz stepped out of the car and went straight inside towards Dr.Swati's room.
Dr. Swati greeted them with a warm smile and told them to take a seat. Sidharth and Shehnaaz settled down. Thereafter, Dr. Swati questioned, "How have you been Shehnaaz ?"
"I am fine, doctor." She replied.
"Okay, let's do your checkup and see how the baby is doing." Having said that, Dr.Swati stood from her chair and walked to the room inside her cabin. Shehnaaz got up from her chair and followed her lead. Dr. Swati examined her and even indulged her in small talks about the baby's development. Both the ladies came back to the room after the check-up was done.
I hope you aren't facing any problems. Are you?" Dr. Swati got seated in her chair and inquired.
"No doctor. But I do feel nauseous and puky in the morning. It is sickening sometimes. And I have been craving ice cream and chocolate. And yes, earlier I wasn't fond of olives and apples, but lately I have developed a liking for them. I mean, I like to have them in most of the time, " Shehnaaz replied to her softly.
Dr. Swati burst into laughter and in- formed her, "It's normal to have cravings during pregnancy. And morning sickness too. But I would suggest you 'not suppress these cravings.' You are not restricted. You can eat anything and everything. It's great that you feel the urge to have olives or apples. You should consume as many fruits as possible during your pregnancy. It would add to your good health. " (Pause) Come on, now let's get the scan done so that we can see the growth of the baby," Dr. Swati asserted.
Shehnaaz and Dr. Swati stood from their seats. While moving towards the room, Dr. Swati stopped in between and called out, "Mr. Shukla , would you like to come along?"
Sidharth was alarmed when he heard from Dr. Swati . He didn't expect that to come from her. "Can I come with you inside?" He asked.
Dr. Swati smiled at him and answered, "Yes, of course, why not? This is your baby, after all. You should see how it is growing."
Sidharth got up from his seat to walk along.
"Why has Dr. Swati invited him? How can I get the scan done before Sidharth?" Shehnaaz thought to herself nervously.
