Chapter 62: Surprise!

//Riley's P.O.V//

Well...things have changed a lot. No surprise there, I know. Three years have passed. Not too long after meeting Harmony we became really close. I spent all my time with her and a few new friends and was never home. I've actually been living with her. Sam and Colby moved to Vegas and I wasn't quite ready to leave LA yet. But, since I'm an adult now, Colby trusts me to make my own decisions. He's been so busy since moving down there and is constantly traveling with Sam to film their videos as they've gotten more extreme. I haven't talked to him in months. I miss him a lot but I can't really tell him since he never even opens my texts. Though he adopted me, I never really knew what our relationship was. After spending so much time away from him, I've learned to understand him more as an older brother. And in this case, an older brother who has gone off to college. The type that promises to call everyday but then when he leaves you get a bi-monthly "Hey, how are ya?". It's been weird but I've grown so much in this time spent apart. I knew we wouldn't be together always, he adopted me at an older age so our time was meant to be short. Of course he's always there but, maybe he's meant to be where he is and I'm meant to be where I am.

Jake and I aren't in contact very often anymore. He's still around even after he and Tara's breakup, things just aren't quite the same. Parker and Dylan became best friends which was really creepy to me, but also not surprising. Harmony and I have been going to parties far more often than i'd like to admit and her parents don't care either since they're always away for work. Man, do I know what that's like. If she's ever gone, I stay with Tara, who has also become a much closer friend of mine.  I am planning on pursuing modeling, as I have always been so into finding new ways to dress up and I love being out and exploring, learned that one from Colby, I guess. Harmony loves doing it and knows so many places I can start. But I wasn't sure how to approach Colby with the idea as that would likely keep me in LA.

//Colby's P.O.V//

Sam and I just finished a trip for our upcoming hellweek video later this year. We're both exhausted on a plane, headed back to the states. I had lots of time to rest and collect my thoughts and I feel really shitty. Here I am, flying all around the world for work and haven't even put in the time to text Riley, the true light in my life for so many years now. We moved from LA so quickly and I never even gave her the chance to decide what she wanted. Sure, I've seen her, I do try to reach out when I get the chance and fly out when we have a break. But that doesn't seem to be enough. I brought her into my family and my life, and now I feel I've abandoned her. it's not fair to her. That's why Sam and I are landing at LAX soon. I haven't told her, but Sam and I are going to surprise her and make sure she knows how important she is, regardless of where we are.

Colby : Do you really think this will work?

Sam: Of course it will! I texted Tara just before we got on the plane to confirm everything.

Colby: Do we need to stop somewhere when we land to get something?

Sam: Did you not hear the part where I said Tara? She'll have everything covered. Just relax.

//Riley's P.O.V//

Harmony and I lay on her living room couch as we finish the final season of the summer I turned pretty when she begins to speak.

Harmony: Hey, so I was thinking we should go out tonight

Riley: Don't we always? But yeah I'm down, where at?

Harmony: Well we could just get ready and go to Tara's, she's always got something going on.

Riley: Sure! Oh wait no I can't, I promised myself I'd try to call Colby and talk to him about this modeling thing again, it starts in a few weeks.
