Chapter 4

AS THE DOOR CLOSES behind Eschewal, Deuce's phone rings. "Yeah, hello," he says, then pokes Eschewal's shoulder to get his attention. Eschewal looks at him. Deuce pulls the phone away from his mouth and whispers to Eschewal, "It's her, blood." Deuce puts the phone back to his ear. "Yeah, yeah, babes," he continues, "take the first right, then the second left, and you'll be on my road. Come to 108... yeah, alright." He ends the call and then squeals, "Rudeboy, she's round the corner, blood!" He pushes open a door and tells Eschewal to follow.

He leads Eschewal into a large room that contains a long sofa, a table, and green and brown paisley wallpaper. "Yeah, blood. You listening? This is how we're gonna run it. When she comes, yeah, you wait in here and don't make her see you. I'll bring her straight to my room and go thru, then tell her I'm gonna take a piss. That's when you go in and kill it."

Eschewal thinks for a second, then says, "Nah, bro, that don't sound like no battery. That's a long ting."

Deuce shuts his eyes, then opens them and shrugs. "How? It's not long. What's wrong with you, man? Listen, this chick is dumb, and the room is gonna be dark, so when you go in, just act like you're me, innit."

Eschewal pauses in thought, but Deuce's phone rings before he can run through the possible consequences of his actions.

Deuce answers. The girl is outside. He clicks off his phone and then says, "So what you saying?" Before Eschewal can answer, Deuce adds, "You're down, man, just cool," then leaves the room.

Eschewal runs to the window and peeps through the curtain. Subconsciously he licks his lips as he sees the girl walking towards the door. His penis grows hard. His eyes glaze over as The Dog's imaginary growl makes him lust after the girl's firm young body. Images of him having sex with her flood his mind, and at that moment, he knows The Dog has won, and all the wrong he is about to do is pushed aside.
