THE FOLLOWING DAY IS bright as Eschewal boards the prison bus.

At approximately 08:55, he arrives at the court. At 10:15, he stands in the dock before a fat, jowl, grey-haired Judge.

The Judge tells Eschewal to sit.

The Prosecutor stands up and addresses the Judge. He clears his throat. "Your honor, the case against the people's state versus Mr. Eschewal Rote is hereby charged under the Narcotics and Drugs Act."

The Prosecutor shuffles some papers and continues. "Customs officers apprehended Mr. Rote with 27 kilograms of cannabis in his possession. He claims the drugs were for personal use and denies trying to import drugs."

The Prosecutor sits down.

The Judge puts on his glasses and looks over at Eschewal. "Please stand. I see you have no legal representation; would you like to defend yourself?"

Eschewal nods. "Yes."

As if it pains him or negates his mind, the Judge says, "Okay. Go ahead. Do you plead guilty or not guilty to the charges?"

Eschewal raises his chest. "Not guilty. Because one, I was not smuggling drugs. I was going to declare it. And two, I do not recognize your subjective, arbitrary drug laws. The only law I recognize is universal law, which is: no person, group of individuals or destructive governments may initiate force, the threat of force or fraud against property or any individual."

Eschewal looks over at the Prosecutor, then back at the Judge, and continues. "So, considering that my so-called crime has not breached any universal laws, I am not guilty of any crime, but a man-made agenda driven by subjective law crime."

Eschewal points at the Judge. "Furthermore, the only criminal in this court today is you...."

Eschewal is interrupted by the bang of the Judge's hammer, but he continues over the racket.

"Yes, you're the criminal, you and your cohort politicians who legalize, using fraudulent scientific claims, poisonous addictive drugs such as; sugar and caffeine, which they sanction and seep into almost every food that innocent young children consume. Yes, the moment you and destructive governments disappear is the day everything, which is wrong with this world, will also disappear." He wipes the corners of his mouth.

It seems as if the Judge is about to choke with contempt. He removes his glasses and bangs his hammer of coerced authority even harder.

"I beg your pardon? You're in a court of law governed by legislation, and you shall respect that and throw your mercy upon the court."

The Judge flicks over a few pages.

"I have no choice but to remand you in custody until a court date is set before a jury." The Judge looks over at the court officer. "Take him down."

The court officer grips Eschewal and leads him toward the cells. Eschewal follows with a grin on his face. He knew that with his anti-system speech, which he learned from the black book, the Judge would lock him up immediately.

Eschewal could not risk the Judge giving him bail. He had to be locked up now. Right now and flung into ostracism away from his self-destruction and towards happiness.
