Three Weeks Later

AFTER THE SADNESS SWOOPED over Manna's face, Eschewal dreamed he would touch her face again. But she had chosen her friendship with Salacious over a possible happy and loving marriage.

Eschewal had lost the love of his life but learned a deadly lesson: most people do not want fairness. Manna would have been happy if Eschewal had acted as if he had never seen Salacious before. She would have been glad to be kept ignorant.

He holds onto the bathroom sink. He looks into the mirror and sees a different face; it is not the face of three weeks ago. The happy face that Manna gave him, the face that finally had something to smile about and laugh. His insides are getting ready to cry, but he will not let himself release tears.

He releases his grip and nods. It is time to let go and move on. A tear almost falls. He asks himself, 'How can I move on without Manna in my life?'

From the moment he saw her in the park, it was love. Love that feels as if it would never go away. It was true, it was real, and it was powerful. No matter what anybody says, "That was not love, it was only lust because you cannot love someone that quick. You did not even know her for long enough."

Nope. Eschewal knew this was not true because he could not control what he felt. What he felt could only be love. What he felt had even made him forget about becoming a creator of values and receiving the happiness & riches the black book had promised.

He shakes his head. He now has to get used to living his life without the love of his life. The corner of his mouth turns down, and he wishes he could have plucked up the courage and told Manna he had spent one year searching for her.

He huffs and leaves the bathroom wondering, 'Would she have even cared, or would it have made a difference?'
