THE TIME IS FIVE minutes to twelve. Eschewal has his girl sitting on his bed. He shakes his head and then looks over at the girl.

He focuses on the best parts of her as if he is analyzing and appraising an exquisite painting. He looks at her hair, which reflects a glowing sheen. 'That is the best part of her,' he thinks.

He places both legs on his bed and says, "Oi, how come you're sitting way over there? You're not scared of me, are you?"

The girl shakes her head. "No."

"Well, come here then."

She slides over and lays across his lap.

He strokes her straight, silky smooth hair.

She looks up and smiles, revealing short wide-spaced teeth.

He feels this is the worst part of her, but if looked at another way, it makes her look cute. He decides to test the waters. He leans in for a kiss... her mouth tastes fresh. He pulls her buttons and unbuckles her belt. He fights with her jeans until he gets them down.

Eschewal and the girl caress and kiss each other in a romantic embrace. He has his eyes closed, and Manna pops into his mind. He throws the girl over and deep French kisses her while bumping and grinding.

"Mmmm," he says.

The girl grips him behind his neck and says, "Oh, baby, I want you."

He responds with kisses up and down her neck, then whispers, "Ah, Manna, I want you too."

The girl moves her neck away from his mouth. "What? What did you call me?"

He opens his eyes and coughs. "Err? Um, nothing, man."

"Oh," she responds, then gives him back her neck.

He kisses her forehead and says, "Nah, you know what? Let's chill for a minute."

"Why, what's wrong?"

"Nah, nothing," he lies as he puts his arms behind his head and thinks, 'I can never fake liking someone. It has to be real.'

"Hug me, please," says the girl.

With vexation on his face and guilt in his heart, he turns around and hugs the girl while knowing he will never meet her again and she will never know why.

He closes his eyes and drifts off into a dream, wishing he had Manna in his arms.
