ESCHEWAL ROLLS OVER ONTO his front and stretches for the phone. He looks at the time. It reads nine thirty pm. He thinks, 'Yeah, the perfect time to call a girl who might be into watching soap operas.'

He sits up and dials the number... four rings later, it is answered.

"Yeah, hello," he begins, "is this, um, Reasha?" He waits for the reply, then says, "Ah yeah, what's up, babes? It's Eschewal from work. You remember me, yeah?"

Reasha licks her lips and says sweetly, "Of course I do. I only met you today; I'm not that bad."

He laughs then says, "Okay, girl, so what you up to anyway?"

"Oh, I'm just chilling, watching some rubbish on TV."

He smiles, and with charm in his voice, he says, "I'm glad I'm not disturbing you because I wouldn't want to start off on a bad foot."

"No, you're doing just fine," she replies with a giggle.

He begins the get-to-know-you conversation, "So apart from watching TV, what else do you like doing in your spare time?"

"Oh, I like to read and listen to music."

Eschewal jumps on the music reference, which he plans to use as the lead up to the date suggestion. "Okay, what type of music do you like?"

"Um, you know, I like a bit of everything."

"Yeah, me too. Do you go out raving a lot?"

Reasha turns the TV onto a music channel and then answers, "Nah, not really. I mostly go to wine bars if I go out."

"Yeah, I prefer going to wine bars myself than raving."

A moment of silence passes. He follows up by getting the answer to the most undesirable qualities he dislikes in a woman. "Do you smoke and drink?"

"No, I don't smoke, but I do drink. Only when I go out, though."

He is happy enough that she only drinks. He can work with that. So he decides to jump straight in with the date suggestion. He invites her to a wine bar at the weekend, where they play live music by chic musical artists.

She accepts the invite with excitement.

He goes over the date details and then ends the call.
