Chapter 65

IT IS A CHILLY sunny Monday morning, and Manna sits at her desk with a grin on her face. She cannot stop thinking about the other night she spent with Eschewal. She wonders why he had not tried to have sex with her. After all, she did end up in his bed, wearing only her underwear. It was the first time she had allowed herself to be in that position with a man, and he had not tried to have sex with her.

All night long, Eschewal had only held her in his arms, even though his penis was rock hard almost the whole night. This made such an impression that she was falling for him. This emotion puts a smile on her face.

She feels like phoning him to hear his voice. At that exact moment, her phone rings. She digs down into her purse. Her heart flutters as she wonders if it is Eschewal.

The name on the phone flashes up Spiv.

She answers it with joy in her voice, "Hi ya, babes."

"Yeah, what you saying?" responds Spiv.

"Nothing, I'm just at work, innit."

"So, how you sound so happy?"

She pauses and wonders if she should tell Spiv about Eschewal. 'Yeah, I might as well,' she thinks. "Nah, it's nothing. It's just that I've met someone."

There is a sudden silence as jealousy runs down Spiv's spine. He thinks, 'After all the work I put in with her, now some fool is going to mess that up?'

He plays it cool, controls his vexation, and makes Manna feel that he is happy for her. "Is it, don't lie?" he begins with fake excitement in his voice, "where did you meet him?"

"Um, last week Saturday at your club night."

Spiv searches his memory bank on who was there. There were so many players. "Okay, so what's his name?"

"Eschewal... Why, do you know him?"

"Nah, nah," he replies. He considers asking what Eschewal looks like but instead changes the subject.

When Spiv gets off the phone, he begins his investigation on Eschewal. There is no way he will lose out on time invested in being friends with Manna so he can get into her panties.
