ESCHEWAL TAPS HIS STEERING wheel as he and Deuce sit outside the bus station.

"Oi, where's these chicks, bruv, man?"

Deuce looks at his phone; the time reads 11:00 p.m. He feels like hitting the dashboard. He sucks his teeth, then leans back into the seat and grips the phone. "I don't know, man, they're taking the piss."

Eschewal squints. "Wait, are you sure this is the right place they said to meet them?"

"Yeah, man," replies Deuce as he screws his face and looks out the window.

Eschewal leans his head back on the headrest. "Well, I beg you call them then because it don't make sense we sit here like a pair of sitting ducks."

Deuce sucks his teeth and looks out the window. For a few minutes, there is silence between the men.

Eschewal gazes out his window. His thoughts drift to when he saw Manna walk past him in the club. He feels the way it happened: it seemed like magic brought her to him to give him happiness and something to live for finally.

He feels like crying as he remembers how happy Manna made him feel for those brief moments he spent with her. Those moments felt like heaven, far from the hell he grew up in and had to endure.

His chest tightens, his eyes become slits, and he still cannot believe how he lost Manna. He feels like hitting the steering wheel.

He closes his eyes and thinks, 'I should never have forgotten about becoming a creator of values when I began looking for Manna because I'm sure if I hadn't, I would now have her in my arms and be living a life of happiness & riches.' He shakes his head.

He feels that happiness is never meant for him. He opens his eyes. 'Nah,' he thinks, 'I won't make it win. I didn't come this far to lose; I am not turning back. I'll find another princess and become a creator of values, no matter how long it takes.'

He looks over at Deuce. "What, bruv, aren't you gonna call them?"

Deuce sucks his teeth. "Alright, man," and then dials Alena.
