THE DATE HAS GONE well. Eschewal took Reasha to a comedy night where they laughed and sipped on drinks. All that laughing had taken away Eschewal's worries.

His worries have now returned. He looks down towards the side of Reasha's face. He smells her hair; it smells good. The clean scent from her clothes catches his nostrils. He closes his eyes and wants to say a prayer, asking for Reasha's feet not to be smelling. He wants to pray that even if they still smell, he will be able to overlook it and fall in love with her.

He opens his eyes.

Reasha turns her face towards him and notices his intense look. "Is everything alright, babes?"

He clears his throat. "Yeah, man, everything is criss. Why?"

She gets off her elbows. "Nah, you look like you're not really here. I mean, like your thoughts are distant. As if you're staring into space. What's on your mind?" She unlocks herself from his embrace and sits up so she can take a better look at his eyes.

"Nah, nothing's on my mind," he lies as he looks away from her gaze. How can I tell you that I've been stressing all week to find out if your feet still stink? "Nah, sometimes I zone out and meditate. You get me?"

She nods but feels, for some reason, that there is more to it than just meditating. "I understand. I'm gonna call you my spaceman."

Eschewal laughs.

Reasha gets up from the couch. "I'm just going to the bathroom; I'll be back in a minute."

He swallows hard as he watches her leave the room.
