The Weekend
ESCHEWAL IS STRESSING; HE has a problem: his car is still in the garage and will not be ready until tomorrow. He paces the living room holding his phone, wondering what to do. He knows this is the big test. Will Manna pull out of the date because there is no car, or will she prove to be the real woman of his dreams?
He takes a deep breath and calls her. "Yeah, hello. Is this Manna? Yeah, hello, yeah, it's me, Eschewal... Yeah, what's up, babes? Oi, listen, my car is in the garage."
He is about to explain that he will not get the car back until tomorrow when Manna butts in with, "Nah, that's cool, babes, I'll take a bus and come and meet you."
At that moment, he wants to bend down on one knee and propose marriage as he feels love strike at his heart.
"Eschewal, are you there?" she says.
He feels like he is about to shed tears. He swallows hard, then clears his throat. "Yeah, yeah, so you know how to get to the cinema then?"
She giggles. She can tell that he is shocked by her response. "Yeah, babes, I know where it is. I'll meet you outside there at eight."
"Okay, bye." he ends the call and stares at the floor. He feels it is too good to be true; a girl who looks as good as Manna is not superficial. A smile stretches across his face as he enjoys the happiness that runs through his body.
He snaps out of his trance and heads off to groom himself to the sweet-boy standard.
