Three Days Later

ESCHEWAL REACHES FOR THE TV remote as the latest top comedy show ends. He flicks through the other channels and finds nothing to watch. The next suitable show will not be starting until the next hour. He throws down the remote on the stylish coffee table and rests back into his leather sofa. He stares up at the ceiling. He sighs then shakes his head. He closes and rubs his eyelids, then opens them and continues to stare at the ceiling. He thinks about what to do now to kill some time. He smiles as he recalls the phrase: You do not kill time. Time kills you.

He sits up and looks over at his phone, and for a few seconds, he does nothing. Then as if he has received an electric shock, he jumps toward his phone. He remembers that he has not yet called Peachy.

He scrolls down to her name and resumes a calm composure. He moves over to his CD player and turns on some music. He taps the call button and sends a dialing tone to her phone. He sits down as it rings. A second later, she answers.

"Yeah, hello," he begins as he swallows hard, trying to control his nerves. "Is this, um, Peachy?"

"Yeah," she says, "who is this?"

He relaxes further into the seat as her welcoming tone puts him at ease.

"Oh, what's up, babes? This is um, Eros... we met at the bar last week."

She laughs, a cute laugh, and says, "Oh yeah, are you all right? What are you up to?"

He replies, "Um, um, just chilling, babes. What are you saying? When will we set a date to get to know each other better?"

"I don't know. It's up to you."

He grins that she responds positively and does not lead the conversation on for too long because he has not got much credit left on his phone.

In a confident tone, he suggests a movie on Friday at eight.

She agrees.

He ends the conversation with a sweet compliment.

She smiles, chuckles, then says bye.

He ends the call, and as his thoughts drift off, he wonders, 'Is she the one?'
