AS ESCHEWAL STOPS BY a bridge that leads outside the park, he beats himself up, 'Why did I take so long to step to her? After all, she was going to be my wife? I had nothing to fear.'
He closes his eyes, and even though the sun is scorching, he feels as if heavy lead-like freezing rain is pelting down, drowning him in sorrow. He opens his eyes, wishing a miracle would float the girl past him, but all he sees is a swarm of colorfully dressed people scrambling out of the park.
He dwells, 'I wonder what ends she comes from?' He rubs his chin. 'Does she even come from the ends or even from the country? She must come from the ends.'
He takes out his phone and calls Deuce as he walks back to his car. He tells Deuce to meet him there.
It is not long before Deuce gets to the car with a big smile. "Hey, blood, I just got one fit ting, you know, bruv. Oh shit, she's hectic, one young ting."
Eschewal cannot hide his lack of interest and says in a blunt tone, "Yeah, true stories, yeah?"
Deuce says, "What's wrong with you, blood? Where did you go anyway?"
"Um," begins Eschewal trying to think what to say, "I went for a piss, innit," then with ease, he rolls out his player dialogue, "Then I saw one, ting."
Deuce says, "What, ting?"
"One, ting, one old, ting, innit."
"You gonna link her?"
"Nah, nah, it's long. Come we go, man."
Eschewal clicks open the car doors. He and Deuce jump in. Eschewal starts the engine.
Deuce hits him on the shoulder. "Oi, let's drive around for a bit and see if we can pick up some jezzys."
Eschewal pauses with his response; he remembers: To give up on searching for love is like giving up on life. One must never stop until one finds their romantic love partner. He looks over at Deuce; he hates acting like a player, but Deuce is his only friend who goes out raving, and he feels that going to raves is the only chance to see the girl again. His embarrassment will not allow him to tell Deuce about his pursuit. Instead, he will pretend to be a player while he attends raves with Deuce, and the moment he finds the girl, he will end the friendship.
Eschewal nods. He puts the car up into gear as thoughts of finding this girl and becoming a creator of values flood his mind. In fact, he no longer cares about becoming a creator of values because he feels this girl alone will give him the love and happiness he has been longing for all his life.
