Chapter 37

Andy and Robert came to the station each day holding hands and were always very happy and in great spirits. Vic had tried many times to find out the reason for all this happiness, but she hadn't been able to find out anything. Andy and Robert kept lying and kept saying they weren't in love, because they liked to stay in their happy bubble. Luke had also tried several times to talk to Robert, but he too, just like Vic, had learned nothing new.

Luke: "Are you really sure that nothing has changed between you and Andy? You've been acting different lately"

Robert: "I'll tell you again, things are always the same between us. We just keep pretending"

Luke: "I'm sorry, but this time I don't believe you. You've both changed, you're more clingy than before and you're much more considerate of him" he said pacing his office back and forth with him. "Did you get her pregnant?" Robert burst out laughing.

Robert: "Are you crazy? How do certain things come to your mind?"

Luke: "That's the first thing that came to my mind" Robert shook his head.

Robert: "But one day it could happen" he said in a very low voice and Luke couldn't hear what Robert had just said.

Luke: "What did you say?"

Robert: "Nothing. Is your interrogation over? You know.. I should work"

Luke: "No, wait, I have to ask you something. What are you and Andy going to do this weekend? Vic wanted to go to the spa and I didn't, so.. maybe if you and Andy come too.."

Robert: "I'm sorry man, but this weekend my sister is coming with William and the children. Andy and I will go with them to help them choose a house"

Luke: "Oh, okay. Have fun trying parenting then" he laughed back and Robert rolled his eyes.

Robert: "Do you want to stop?"

Luke: "Nope. On your birthday night, you really looked like Noah's parents. Him very cute who fell asleep in Andy's arms and you who took off your jacket to cover the baby so that he wasn't cold. It was a very sweet thing that parents usually do"

Robert: "Why is nobody getting hurt today?" Luke laughed and then the alarm went off. "What a pity, I have to leave this absurd conversation" he said sarcastically.

Robert then exited Luke's office, joined the rest of the team and then they set off towards the place of the call. When they arrived at the call address, Robert assessed the situation and then they got to work. It was a house of a couple of people where there were also many animals. The couple had managed to get out of the burning house, but there were still animals inside, including puppies that had been born a few months ago. The team's priority at the moment was to get safely into that house and rescue the animals while another team started putting out the fire. The animals inside the house were scared and some were hiding and the team struggled to find them. After several minutes the team had managed to retrieve all the animals, but as they were about to leave, Andy heard a noise and went back to check. A small white puppy dog had been hidden and Andy very gently took it, put it inside her jacket to protect it and then went out.

Woman: "Did you save all the animals?"

Robert: "Yes, they are all safe"

Woman: "Thank you" she replied with a smile. "Those newborn puppies, can you help me with them? Now that my husband and I no longer have a home, we can't keep the newcomers as well" she said sadly.

Robert: "We could have a small event in our station so that whoever wants can adopt them"

Woman: "Would you really do that?"
