If you play with fire.. you get burned

Chapter 89

For a whole week Mila and Marcus always wanted to go to the station dressed as raccoons and they enjoyed playing little pranks on their mother. Even though Robert told them to stop playing those pranks on their mother, they continued to do them and always blamed Robert. Andy obviously never believed what their children said, he knew very well that it couldn't be Robert's fault, but most of the time he played along with them. Every time Andy pretended to hit Robert with a light punch, the twins started laughing and imitated what Andy did.

Robert: "Now stop playing pranks on your mother and it's time to put those costumes in the wash"

Marcus: "Nooo"

Robert: "Yes instead"

Marcus: "No" he replied crossing his arms over his chest almost making his father laugh a little.

Robert: "Let's make a pact" he said picking up Marcus while Andy was helping to remove the raccoon costume from Mila who was more cooperative than her brother. "You take the costume off now, then we'll wash it and you can wear it another day"

Marcus: "Can I choose?" Robert nodded. "Any day" Robert nodded again. "Okay, then stop playing pranks on mom and I'll take the costume off. Will you help me?"

Robert: "Of course I'll help you" he replied and then helped his son take off the raccoon costume.

Once the two children took off their raccoon costumes, they joined their grandmothers for a snack while Andy sat on her husband's lap.

Robert: "Don't you think it was too easy to convince Marcus?"

Andy: "Why?"

Robert: "Well.. it usually takes a lot longer and he always wants food and a new toy"

Andy: "Yes, okay, that seems really weird. Maybe he forgets about that costume.." she said hopefully and Robert gave a tiny laugh.

Robert: "Or maybe he wants to wear it at the most inopportune time" now it was Andy who let out a tiny laugh and then kissed her husband.

After exchanging a few tender kisses, they also joined Elena, Eleonor and the children and in their company there was also Daniel. He had spent the whole day at the station to arrange the very last things because from the following day there would be many people for the weekend with the firefighters from other cities. Everything was already ready in the smallest details, but there were only a few small things missing that Daniel had arranged during that day. At the end of the shift, when Andy, Robert and the children returned home, Andy started to give the twins a bath while Robert started to prepare dinner. As always, the children made a lot of mess and in the end Andy found herself having to dry up all the water that had spilled around the bathroom. Mila and Marcus had fun splashing water everywhere this time too. After dinner, the twins fell asleep in their parents' arms and since they had clung to their parents' shirts, the children slept with Andy and Robert that night.

Robert: "I fear that today they will cause a lot of trouble" he said the next morning while the children were still sleeping.

Andy: "I'm sure they will. And this was one of the first nights that they slept without ever waking up"

Robert: "We won't even be able to stop them from doing something, Daniel will protect them" Andy laughed.

Andy: "It will be three very long days" Robert nodded. "And not only will Daniel protect them from everything they will do, but also our mothers and everyone else. And I fear that they may be protected by the other Chiefs as well since they had so much fun with them when they were here last time"

Andy: "Ohhh, that's right, I forgot about that" now it was Robert's turn to laugh. "Do you think we should wake up Mila and Marcus? We have to go to the station soon"
