If you play with fire.. you get burned

Chapter 36

After they finished eating, they went to their room to change. Andy decided to leave the engagement ring at home so no one would suspect them. After changing, they headed to the station and hoped to be able to behave as they had done up to that moment. As soon as they got out of the car, they joined hands and entered the station together. Both had a big smile on their faces and, after changing, they joined the others upstairs.

Vic: "You arrived late"

Andy: "It's not true" she replied looking at his watch. "There are still 5 minutes until the shift starts"

Vic: "I know, but usually you arrive much earlier. Are you all awake at night, so you just woke up a little while ago?"

Andy: "Probably" she replied with a big smile.

Vic: "Did something else happen?"

Andy: "No, it's always the same" she answered lying.

Vic: "Are you sure?" Andy nodded. "You look happier than usual"

Andy: "Oh, well.. I talked to my mother a bit earlier, that's why" she replied taking a glass of water.

Vic: "I'll pretend to believe you"

Robert gave everyone the day's assignments and then when everyone left to get to work, Robert pulled Andy close to him and gave her a long kiss.

Robert: "So you're so happy because you talked to your mother?"

Andy: "Yes, because we told both my mother and your mother that we love each other" she replied smiling. "I love you my love"

Robert: "I love you too my love" he replied kissing her again. "But now let's get to work"

Andy: "Okay, but I'll come to your office later" she replied mischievously.

Robert: "Mmmhhh .. see you later" he replied giving her one last kiss before going to his office.

That afternoon was passing rather slowly and just as everyone was complaining about being bored, the alarm went off. The team was called to a factory fire and when they got there, they noticed something strange. The color of the fire was different from usual, it was green and meant that there were chemicals that were burning and they could not use water to put out the fire otherwise they risked an explosion. As Robert got out of the truck, he asked headquarters for help because they didn't have the right equipment to fight the fire.

Robert: "You can't come in, we have to wait for help. In the meantime, we can only help the people who have managed to get out"

All: "Yes Captain"

Robert: "Andy?" she turned to him. "Please don't do anything stupid that will put you in danger, ok?"

Andy: "Okay, I promise"

Despite Andy's promise that she wouldn't get into dangerous situations, Robert had a strange feeling and was more worried than usual. While the team made sure that the people who left that factory were okay, they discovered that there were two other people inside. Andy had gone to report everything to Robert and he expected Andy to ask him to go inside to save those people, but she didn't.

Andy: "There are two other people inside. How soon will the other team be here?"

Robert: "They'll be here in five minutes"

Andy: "There are many"

Robert: "I know" he snorted and then he looked Andy in the eyes.

Andy: "Don't worry, I won't do what you're thinking. I promised you I won't do anything stupid" Robert nodded. "I just hope they found a place to shelter"
