If you play with fire.. you get burned

Chapter 23

Robert didn't say anything to Andy, he picked up Noah and headed for boarding. Andy was sad, he hoped Robert would greet her instead he did nothing. A few tears started flowing down her face and she couldn't move. Andy stood there until the plane left and then she went to the station to start her shift. As she was driving to the station, Robert and Noah sat in their seats and the boy rested his head on Robert's arm.

Noah: "Don't be sad, I miss mommy Andy too" Robert gave a tiny smile.

Robert: "I know, I know" he replied hugging the boy. "But now you have to put on your seat belt, we're about to leave. As soon as we can take it off, I'll pick you up, okay?" Noah nodded and after a few minutes the plane took off.

Meanwhile Andy had arrived at the station and Vic when she saw her she immediately realized that something was wrong.

Vic: "What's going on? Why did you come alone?"

Andy: "He's taking Noah home" she replied wiping away her tears.

Vic: "And why are you crying?"

Andy: "Because after the accident we argued and he left without saying goodbye. He only talked to me when he was looking for Noah's things to just pack. I'm sure he's back to hating me"

Vic: "Have you stopped hating each other?

Andy: "Yeah, we agreed to be friends, but.."

Vic: "Do you know that you're acting like a person in love?"

Andy: "I'm not in love with him" Vic rolled her eyes. "But it hurt me to be treated with so much indifference" she said as she changed. "One minute he cares about me and the next he acts like I don't exist"

Vic: "You have to understand him, while you were inside that building and you were in danger, he was terrified. He was really scared of losing you"

Andy: "But I'm fine, my wrist just hurts a little"

Vic: "This time it went well, but what if you hurt yourself more?"

Andy: "But that didn't happen" Vic shook her head. "Which side are you on? From mine or from his?"

Vic: "I don't side with anyone. You were wrong not to listen to him and he was wrong to ignore you. You are both wrong, but you are too proud to admit it" she said leaving Andy alone while she finished changing.

After the plane had taken off it was time for the passengers to take off their seat belts and when Noah took off his, he went into Robert's lap. The boy wanted to see a cartoon and Robert agreed. Noah while he saw the cartoon occasionally laughed when he saw a funny scene while Robert was immersed in his thoughts. He could only think about Andy and how he had treated her. He had kind of regretted treating her that way, but he had really been very scared and that incident had brought back old memories. Robert had packed his suitcase with clothes to stay in Miami for a few days and yet he wasn't sure how many days he'd stayed in Miami. Thoughts of him are interrupted by Noah telling him the cartoon is done.

Noah: "The cartoon is finished, what can I do now?"

Robert: "How about if you get some sleep? The journey is still very long and this morning you woke up very early"

Noah: "Can I sleep on your lap?" Robert nodded. "And can you cuddle me like mommy Andy always does?"

Robert: "I will" he replied giving him a little kiss on the head. "Now close your eyes and dream of something beautiful"

Noah: "Then I will dream of these days when I was with you and mommy Andy" he replied cuddling up to Robert while he closed his eyes.

Noah was fast asleep and Robert watched his sleeping nephew and thought back to all the previous nights Noah had slept close to Andy and a small smile formed on his face. Still thinking about all those cute scenes between Andy and Noah, Robert closed his eyes too. Meanwhile at the station Andy was pretending to have breakfast with the others, she kept turning the spoon inside her cup without eating anything. Some were about to ask Andy what happened, but Vic managed to stop them before they could say anything. After a few minutes Luke joined them because he had something to say.
