Chapter 39

Andy and Robert were getting to where the ladder was so they could go down, but something went wrong. The roof beneath their feet collapsed and Robert held Andy close to him to try and protect her as they fell off. Robert was the first to hit the floor and Andy fell on top of him. Andy quickly moved over Robert to see his condition, but what she saw was just a lot of blood.

Andy: "Robert, hey" Robert wasn't responding so she slapped him. "Hey, my love, open your eyes" Robert opened his eyes.

Robert: "Are you okay?" he asked trying to move, but she felt too much pain.

Andy: "Yeah, don't worry about me. I have to take care of you now, but you promise me to keep staying up" she said pressing hard on Robert's bleeding wound.

Robert: "I try, but.." he closed his eyes slightly. "I can not make it"

Andy: "No, no, please, you have to do it"

Robert: "Andy.. my love.. I love you" he said and then closed his eyes and Andy no longer felt his heartbeat.

Andy: "No, no, Robert, please don't leave me" she said as she tried to revive him. "Warren, come on in" she called over her radio.

Ben: "We're coming" he replied as he, Vic and Jack went inside to rescue Andy and Robert. "What happened?" he asked as he approached them so he could assess Robert's condition.

Andy: "We fell and he.. he.. he wanted to protect me during the fall and now.. Ben please make sure he survives"

Ben: "There is a pulse even if it is very light, we have to go to the hospital immediately" he replied after connecting many things to Robert's body and then with the help of Jack, Robert was put on the stretcher so he could be transported by ambulance.

Andy: "I'm coming with you" she said getting into the ambulance and Ben nodded.

Jack: "Are you okay? Are you hurt?" he asked concerned.

Andy: "I'm fine, try to drive as fast as possible to the hospital" she replied yelling at Jack.

Robert meanwhile Robert's heart had stopped again, but Ben managed to revive him. As soon as they arrived at the hospital, Robert was immediately taken to the operating room because he had a piece of metal stuck in his body in a very delicate place that needed to be surgically removed. Andy, Ben and Jack were escorted to a secluded room so they could wait there for updates on Robert. Andy had hurt her ankle in that fall, but up to that moment she hadn't felt much pain because she had been very worried about Robert. Ben had noticed that Andy was walking strangely and so he asked her if there was anything that was hurting her.

Ben: "Andy.. you should get checked out. You fell too and I bet you have something wrong with your foot"

Andy: "My foot hurts, but right now I don't want to move from here"

Ben: "It will take some time before someone can come to give us information and you need to get checked. And don't worry, if there are any updates, you'll be the first to know" Andy nodded.

Ben called someone he could visit and also made sure that any news from the operating room Robert was in, Andy had to be the first to know. While Andy was being examined, things weren't going well in the OR. As they tried to extract the piece of metal from Robert's body, his heart kept stopping even if they managed to revive him every time. In order to extract that piece of metal, they had to do things very slowly to prevent Robert's heart from stopping again. Meanwhile Andy had been examined and her foot had been bandaged as she had suffered a sprained ankle. When Andy returned to the room she thought it was just Jack and Ben, but by then the rest of the team had arrived as well. As soon as they saw Andy, they immediately approached her, they started asking her many questions and at that moment, however, she couldn't say a single word.
