If you play with fire.. you get burned

Chapter 63

Even though Andy had told her friends that they could go to her and Robert's house that weekend, she still didn't feel very ready to see everyone. Both she and Robert slept little at night because Mila and Marcus liked to stay awake at night and during the day they managed to get little rest because the twins were always attached to their mother's breast to eat. Elena and Eleonor went to Andy and Robert every morning to stay with their grandchildren for a few hours so that Andy and Robert could sleep for a few hours and then they also helped them with things around the house.

Eleonor: "Elena and I aren't coming tomorrow so we'll leave you alone with your friends. We left some food in the fridge so you don't have to worry about anything"

Robert: "With some food, you mean you filled the refrigerator with it?" everyone started laughing.

Eleonor: "Exactly" Andy and Robert smiled.

Andy: "If you want, you can come, you know that you never disturb"

Elena: "We know, but tomorrow have fun with your friends" Andy nodded.

Andy: "We will" she replied, smiling.

Eleonor and Elena went to give Mila and Marcus a little kiss on the forehead and then went home. Andy and Robert, since Mila and Marcus had recently fallen asleep, took the opportunity to rest a little before their children woke up again while Lilli was in the twins' room. After Andy and Robert sat down on the sofa, Andy rested her head on her husband's arm and fell asleep while Robert, on the other hand, wasn't sleeping and had started watching some tv. Robert checked the baby monitor often and when he saw that Mila and Marcus were starting to get a little agitated, he got up from the sofa, placed Andy so that she would continue to sleep and then he went to his children's room. Lilli, as she tried to do every day, was trying to enter the twins' crib, but she had never succeeded yet. Robert picked up both Mila and Marcus and then bent down so that Lilli could smell them and then calm down a little.

Robert: "Now before going to your mother, I'll change your nappy and then you can relax for a bit" he said to his children while cuddling them.

Robert put Mila in the crib so he could change Marcus' diaper and then did the same thing to Mila. Once Robert had changed both of their diapers, he picked up the kids and then joined Andy in the living room. Mila and Marcus were calm, Robert sat on the armchair with them and Lilli sat close to the three of them. Robert gently ran his fingers over Mila and Marcus's faces and they smiled the tiniest little smiles. Also Robert was talking to them making very funny voices and just at that moment, Andy started to wake up.

Andy: "You're really sweet when you make those funny little voices" she said, opening her eyes.

Robert: "I'm quite ridiculous" he replied, looking at his wife. "But they like it and that's fine"

Andy: "You're not ridiculous, I find it very endearing" Robert smiled. "Did they wake up long ago?"

Robert: "Not long. I saw that they were getting a little agitated and I went to them. This time too Lilli continued to try to enter their crib" he said laughing.

Andy: "I'm sure that sooner or later she will succeed" they both started laughing. "We have to give them a bath this evening and hopefully they will sleep a little more tonight"

Robert: "Well.. the other times they slept a little longer after the bath"

Andy: "Let's hope that's the case this time too" Robert nodded.

Andy and Robert cuddled their babies and then when they started fussing because they were hungry, Andy breastfed them. Lilli had remained close to them all the time and often approached the twins and then she too had received a lot of cuddles from Andy and Robert. When it was bath time later, Robert prepared everything so that he and Andy could then give Mila and Marcus a bath. The twins loved bathing and were quite calm and relaxed during that time. While Andy and Robert were bathing their babies, Lilli tried to sneak in between the two of them so she could see the twins. Lilli had managed to put her paws on the edge of the tub and then at a certain point she jumped into the tub splashing a lot of water. Andy and Robert should have been angry at the puppy, but instead they laughed. Lilli barked because she was happy and both Mila and Marcus tried to move to see the puppy. Andy and Robert then pulled the twins out of the tub to dress them and then take care of Lilli. Luckily Lilli stayed inside the tub and that way Andy and Robert looked after their children. At a certain point, however, while Robert was about to put Marcus' diaper on, the child started to pee and had it all over his father. Andy burst out laughing as Robert tried to get Marcus diapered as quickly as possible. Marcus looked at his father smiling and after Robert put the diaper on him, he too started laughing at that situation. Once Andy and Robert put the twins in onesies, Andy picked them up so he could put them in their crib and then help Robert dry Lilli. However, as soon as the dog saw Andy taking Mila and Marcus into another room, he got out of the tub and followed her, wetting the entire floor. Robert chased Lilli, but he couldn't catch her because she ran faster and he had to be careful not to slip on the wet floor. Robert only managed to catch Lilli when the dog stopped in front of Mila and Marcus's crib.
